1. allayed concerns with the global economic downturn. says it is dependent on each team. (dig on sac-town?)

2. comment on the Elgin Baylor situation – stern has no idea what’s going on there. “That’s news to me.” – Stern
3. He is pleased with the state of the referees. Understands that there is a major issue with all calls gone wrong. They pushing and hoping for more growth there.
4. There is a perpetual growth of talent that continues to flow and makes the sport better. Likes the current state of the game is right now. (215 countries in 44 languages broadcasting the game on sunday. wow.)
5. (addressed to Billy Hunter) possibility of CBA. talks are ongoing with the NBA regarding the CBA and its impending expiration. very aggressive negotiations at the back end. Stern says regular meetings occur with the NBA.
6. Union is concerned with the Tinsley situation. They are monitoring the situation closely with the possible precedence this might cause. They would like that the issue be resolved before arbitration.
7. Neither want to say that they initiated talks on the CBA. However, they do talk a lot, so it seems “apropo” that the CBA is talked over. Stern says “talking is a good thing.”
8. Commenting on the fact that selection process. (question is because Turkish writer is sad that hedo did not make it). Says that talent is very stocked. (another dig on the possibility of Yi making it to the team).
9. Stern ignored the comments Mike Brown regarding the controversial call Crawford made. But they talked during the charity effort.
10. Regarding the trade rumors and luxury tax, teams are aware with what is going on and they know what to do regarding that. Stern kind of disdains micromanaging.
11. Stern refuses to technically comment on the Pacer situation, but he did say that they want a similar deal they had with the Colts. but he did expound on the importance of Indiana basketball.
12. Stern views possible growth of basketball in India.
13. Teams will come to Europe and China next year. No confirmation as to which team in particular will. However, Knicks are probably sure. No definite time though when they will come. (come on, they will be there next year.)
14. Green efforts are being conducted and are encouraged for the NBA. He views that the NBA should initiate education efforts for the environment.
15. Believes in the current drug testing system and thinks that this works. Thinks that what WADA is doing to specific people is kind of “offensive”. They are not on a witchhunt.
16. comments on the Bud Selig issue. Thinks that Bud is deserving what he is getting. He also says the going rate of a commissioner should be “priceless” (that earned much laughs with the crowd). He also knew that this was coming.
17. Bid specification for 2011 and 2012. 2010 will be in Dallas and Cuban has assured him that 100k people will attend.
