There were a lot of sports-related sketches on Saturday Night Live this week. Besides the three clips below, there was also a sketch about a little kid getting autographs from a hockey team, a few other jokes in Weekend Update, and a line in the new Andy Samberg song “I’m on a Boat” where Samberg sings “like Kevin Garnett, anything is possible!” But these three clips are the cream of the crop. The first is a segment they like to call “REALLY?!? WITH Seth” which was formally “REALLY?!? WITH Seth and Amy” but Amy Poehler has now left the show after having a baby and Seth is trying it out for the first time. I think he did alright, it’s just that in the old days the two of them created the effect of teaming up on the person they were making fun of. (To see a sports related example see the one on Michael Vick.) It starts out being pointed more toward Kellogg’s than Phelps but then came back towards USA Swimming. The second one is Andy Samberg playing Mark Spitz commenting on the Phelps situation. This was pretty funny except for the fact that I’m not sure where some of the Spitz humor is actually based. The last one was another interview with James Harrison (played by Keenan Thompson) who is apparently still out of breath from his 100-yard touchdown run. All in all, they are awesome clips and they are all after the jump.

Jp, they’re funny but nothing that you should feel you really missed out on. cbh49er(Quote)
i know. hulu basically bars me from viewing it here.
i know it sucks. besides. i remember the peyton manning clips that really were funny for me.

gitc-is the guy who has his brain turn to mush in the Hulu commercial with Alec Baldwin. sparty(Quote)
you not missing much, jp. I saw these live and they were chuckle-inducing but not belly-laugh-inducing. the SNL Short “I’m on a Boat” was much funnier. mizerle06(Quote)
I haven’t watch SNL all year. sparty(Quote)
Re: Weekend Update
Norm MacDonald > Kevin Nealon > Colin Quinn > Tina Fey + Amy Poehler > Amy Poehler + Seth Myers > Seth Myers mizerle06(Quote)
where is Chevy Chase and Dennis Miller from that list? sparty(Quote)
I’m on a Boat was hilarious.

forgot about Dennis Miller. He’s somewhere between Nealon and Fey + Poehler. Chevy Chase never did it for me. mizerle06(Quote)
Harrison was the best of the three. john(Quote)
Colin Quinn peaked with Remote Control. I’d put him at the bottom of my list of Weekend Update hosts. john(Quote)

Nealon was my favorite followed closely by MacDonald jb(Quote)

I had a weird feeling after the Hull City draw that Scolari was a dead man walking. The Blues don’t seem to be playing well as a team. And I would like to see some wholesale changes as far as talent. knightro(Quote)
I thought he would have been canned before the Hull draw. they were just not playing too well for him. any clue who they will hire? jb(Quote)
