The Morning After: November 3, 2009

Submitted by sparty on November 3, 2009 – 6:36 am36 Comments

The Morning AfterLast night I had something very important come up that required my immediate attention, therefore today will be a somewhat abbreviated version of TMA. I was unable to watch most of the game that the Phillies apparently cheated to win.  They should not be allowed to bat Chase Utley as often as they do.  If any Yankee fan says that they rather trade a loss on the road to win it at home, they are crazy.  Things just became very serious for the Yanks.

How long until Larry Johnson and Chris Chambers end up in New England?

Another big time coach is going to be linked to the Skins, now it is Mike Holmgren.

The Eagles are not giving up on Jeremiah Trotter.  However, Giants fans may be giving up on Antonio Pierce.

Phil Jackson knows that it isn’t a secret about special treatment for the star players.

Kill a bat, get rabies shot.

Your pre-season All-American list is out for college basketball. No surprises here.  Luke Harangody is the most overrated player in the last couple years.

The Saints have passed another test, and moved to 7-0.  So, who thinks they go 16-0?  Nobody? okay…

good use of timeouts…plus you can only run the ball twice in a row…we scored right after the 2 minute warning. making it a 7 point game. The first defensive series was a rush we forced teh QB out of bounds…stopping the clock…Second was a female rush, we called timeout. You can only rush two times in a row, so they had to throw on 3rd. The wifey came away with a great pass deflection…4th down and long. They threw, INT.

4 play drive scored went for two and win (failed PAT)down 1 with 45 seconds on the clock (and 1 TO left).

1st play run…timeout…second play run…(15 second playclock)…3rd play INT down field.

20 or so seconds left a bomb into the hands of our 6′6″ receiver (we have 2 of them) TD.

their two minute drill is to bring out Brandon Spikes and have him do his Three Stooges routine on the opposition.

Been too busy to get on here much lately. I assume you covered the finger poking by the Gator and starting pitchers on 3 days rest.

So just to make my abbreviated opinions known, eye gouging should get a suspension for the rest of the season, not one game. Period. Half game suspension is worse than no punishment.

Pitching CC on 3 days rest is OK. Other pitchers – not OK. Now you have Pettite on 3 days rest and CC on his 2nd consecutive start with 3 days rest. Would Goudin have pitched any worse than Burnett did yesterday? Of course not. Now you are screwed. If you went with Goudin in game 4, you have your top 3 all on regular rest. Yanks scored 6 runs yesterday. I don’t think CC would have given up 6 runs. Also the day before would have been a toss up. Yanks should still be able to win one game out of two at home but they have a serious wild card going against them.

Mangini will not be back next year. They fired his GM already. 1-6 record, team in disarray. I feel sorry for Cleveland fans.
