Yanks ChampsOctober baseball is finally here.  Go ahead and say that it was here yesterday if you want, but what is essentially was a play-in game doesn’t count.  Congrats to the Twins on winning the Central Division and proving once again that wise scouting and and shrewd moves can be just as successful as spending money to get yourself to the playoffs.  Salary cap, bah.  Unfortunately for them, they now get to play against the Yankees as a reward.  Let’s put it this way, the Twins beating the Yankees would be the biggest shocker in playoff history.  Why?  Because the Twins just don’t beat the Yankees in a series.  Like ever.

The first round is going to play itself out the way it should.  The LCS match-ups are inevitable.  The Angels have as much success against the Sox in the playoffs as the Twins do against the Yanks.  Joe Torre has absolutely destroyed the arms on the Dodgers, much like he did to the Yankees staff his last few years in the Bronx.  The Rockies are a nice turn around story, but the Phillies are going to smoke them.

If you are looking for an ultimate breakdown of each series, you are at the wrong place.  We will save that energy until the LCS’.   In the meantime, here is how it goes:

Yanks in 3, MVP: ARod

Sox in 3, MVP: Ellsbury

Cards in 3, MVP: Holliday

Phillies in 4, MVP: Utley

Yep, pretty boring first round.  But the next one will be awesome.
