HuskerDawg’s Nebraska/Virginia Tech post from last week insipred us here. Much like College Gameday (or tries to) every does every Saturday, we’re going to give you the College Football Game O’ The Week, every week from here on out.
Now there are several good games this weekend, how did I come to my conclusion? SCIENCE…I went through the lineup and looked at the teams with numbers in front of them…since there was only ONE game with TWO teams that had numbers in front of them, it was easy…
Miami @ Virginia Tech! Ya, ESPN’s Gameday might have turded out and went to go make love to Jo Paterno, but that doesn’t take away from the magnatude of this ACC matchup…especially since the league is STARVING for good news.
The Players To Watch:
Miami: Jacory Harris – After a couple rough games last year Jacory-itis has hit South Beach…It has been a little bit less intrusive than the clap, but you can’t hate on a guy that has over 600 yards passing and 5 TDs.
Virginia Tech: Tyrod Taylor – Ya, really fashionable, just sell out and mention both QBs…Miami’s defense has done a pretty good job stopping FSUs and Georgia Tech’s running game…both featuring mobile quarterbacks, meaning Tyrod is going to have to complete more than 44% of his passes this week if they don’t want another L on the record.
The Story:
Miami is back! Yes, they have the best resume in the country to date, but it’s far from complete…you don’t see sophomores in college apply for veep positions at Fortune 500s do ya? It should be treated the same way here, we’ll learn a lot more over the next two weeks as Miami has this game, and probably the GOTW again next week when Oklahoma visits. With that in mind, the Miami offense has looked unstoppable under new coordinator Greg Whipple, something the Canes have really really been lacking the last 5 or so seasons.
Not So Fast My Friend:
Virginia Tech’s defense has them looking to start ACC play where they left it last year. Winners. Of the three additions to the ACC in 2004, did anyone really see the Hokies being the most successful? No…but they have been. The defense can keep Miami in check so long as they aren’t led to die on the field because the offense can’t move the ball. You say their be offense in Blacksburg? Ya, and if can not play like they want to lose, this team certainly has the talent to win the ACC still…National Champions? That’s probably an outside shot, but one game atta time right?
The Predicition:
Miami 27- Virginia Tech 17 – The Canes pull away late. Without a doubt, this will be Miami’s toughest opponent to date.

Does USF knock off FSU? GatorTrey(Quote)
That was a tough game for me to pick on my blog. I don’t know what to make of the Seminoles. I think if USF had Grothe I would have picked the upset. cbh49er(Quote)
That’s a big NO. Grothe’s toast as is USF’s season.
