The Morning After: August 18, 2009

By sparty

The Morning AfterSunday night I watched the Big Ten Network on their camp tour at Michigan State.  Last night I watched about a half hour of the Giants preseason game against the Panthers.  I am so ready for football season now.  These next 2 1/2 weeks are going to be excruciating.  I have purposely made zero plans for Labor Day weekend this year, because I am not having family or anyone else interfere with my all day viewing of college football on September 5th.  Even though Michigan State is opening against Montana State, I am totally geeked.  Loving the huge lead the  Yankees have right now, but seriously…I need football now!!!

Unlike myself, Barry Sanders doesn’t have any urges in regards to football, or regrets.  Stupid Lions.

Even though Braylon Edwards is still doing his best to sabotage his QBs, Brady Quinn pretty much seems like a lock to be the Browns starting QB.

Derrick Brooks is an aging linebacker, New England sounds like the perfect place for him to play.

Javon Ringer is impressing in Tennessee, while Beanie Wells is not even being allowed to try in Arizona.  Ringer > Wells.

The media had to wait for Tony Romo, as he watched Tiger to get inspiration for this December.

Fire up Fireronzook.com!!!

With Andre Smith and his boobs off to the NFL, Nick Saban declares his line to be garbage.

The state of MN is about to screw over the state University of Minnesota.

Rutgers has a huge QB battle on their hands, with one of them being a Michigan State reject.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Hold on a second….HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

So you have a huuuuge contract, your team is in the middle of a pennant race, and you admit to being lazy.  That is true leadership.

This should start the panic for all those Twins fans.

PSSST. Been 6 years again for the Marlins.  Only 2 back of the Wild Card.

If you watch the Family Guy, you didn’t need Seth McFarlane to tell you that Stewey is gay.

Jessica Alba looks like she never ever had a kid.

Why would Illinois fire Ron Zook? All he’s done is EXACTLY what he did at Florida with the Illini. Except this time he was making a team better instead if tearing down a national power  (Quote)

They expect National Titles at Illinois!  (Quote)

Pat white looked lost as an NFL QB (he ran mostly 5 step drop passes under center) last night it was bad. Thy being said we know Pat was brought in as a slash…not a qb and they ran none of those plays  (Quote)

Pat white will not be playing.  (Quote)

I think he does early on, if he doesn’t work out he’ll be benched, but he can be dangerous as the QB in the wildcat  (Quote)

can’t you only have 2 qbs listed on gameday? so unless he is a WR, won’t happen.  (Quote)

As long as a QB is on the field, you’re fine. Last season when Ronnie Brown took the snaps Pennington was out wide. I would expect the same.  (Quote)

There is much grumbling up here about no beer sales at TCF stadium. I really hope that gets another look next year from the legislature.  (Quote)

The Zambrano article is a bit refreshing. And it’s not like it’s something that we didn’t know just by looking at him. I mean he’s fat and not doing the ab stuff wasn’t a big deal until he hurt his back

Oh and Kevin Gregg is horrible  (Quote)

you are missing my point. he has to be listed as a WR. Pennington can be split out wide, but he is still listed as the QB on the lineup. If you make Pat White a WR, you are now having to bench someone else.  (Quote)

I think they should just list him as bust. That’s where he’ll end up anyway.  (Quote)

I believe you have to declare the 3rd active QB as the emergency QB and if he goes into the game, the other two can’t come back in. So basically yes. They would be wise to list White as some other position and that way if something happens to Pennington, they can bring in the backup while still allowing White to take the occasional snap.  (Quote)

i think listing him as a WR would be foolish.  (Quote)

So what do you list him at? If you list him at QB and he plays early in the game with Pennington then something happens to Pennington for whatever reason, then you have to put in the guy who is technically the emergency guy. At that point, both Pennington and White couldn’t return. If they are committed to White being the actual second-string QB then it’s not much of an issue, but it doesn’t seem that is the case just yet.  (Quote)

  • GatorTrey: List him as the punter.

I say long snapper. You can never have enough long snappers.  (Quote)
