What’s Up, Bud?

Submitted by sparty on August 17, 2009 – 12:30 pm15 Comments

bud_seligQuick, someone bring up Pete Rose and reinstatement to baseball.  Maybe then we hear from the farce of a commissioner that is Bud Selig.

Doesn’t anyone think that we should be hearing more from this guy?  Headhunting has been in season for the last several months, yet nothing from the commissioners office.  David Wright may have been hit accidentally over the weekend, but imagine if someone who is doing it purposefully hits his mark?  We could be looking at a player having their career ended, or life.   Rawlings has introduced a new helmet that can withstand 100 MPH impact, but players don’t want to wear it.  Kinda like the idiots that don’t want to wear a motorcycle helmet.  Seems like biggest concern is over the way it looks.

What does Bud have to say about all the headhunting, and refusal to wear a new helmet?  Nothing.  He is silent.

What about all the additional PED info that was leaked out a couple weeks ago about David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez.  Two of the biggest stars of the last decade.  The biggest pieces of the offense on the Red Sox during their World Series titles.  The faces of those teams, and their names being dragged through the mud of Major League Baseball.  The commish remained silent.  Obviously, Bud wouldn’t comment directly about the individuals, but a statement should have been released by him in response to the continued leaks of a test that was supposed to be kept anonymous and secret.

When the Mitchell Report was released last year, Bud stuck his chest out and patted himself on the back for a job well done, even though no punishment could be handed down to any of those players.  Nothing was concrete in the report either, but he just wanted to show how much he was doing to cleanup the game of baseball.  Of course, there have been several ball players that have been suspended since for cheating.  We hear less and less from Bud as more cases arise.  Of course, if you bet on baseball once you are banned for life in baseball.  If you cheat in order to perform better on the field, you get several chances.

Bud, what gives man?  Where have you been? Where have you been hiding?  What’s up?
