Seventh Inning Stretch: I’m back in the game.

319018_l1Wow, it’s been awhile. I’ve been so busy, not sitting around paying attention to sports, the last week or so that I feel out of the loop.  I haven’t exactly been working hard, or really doing anything strenuous this past week, mainly golf and lounging around drinking a few cold ones; but what I haven’t been doing is watching a whole lot of sports.

I missed Tiger’s comeback last weekend. I have no idea who is and isn’t interested in Michael Vick. I didn’t watch the first football “game” of the season, and I haven’t seen an entire baseball game in ages. Which, isn’t so bad when the Twins are being destroyed by the likes of the Royals.

This “hiatus” of sorts has its positives and negatives. On the one hand it’s nice to get out once in a while, no one likes a ghostly pale man. And, when your team is in the midst of throwing away a chance at losing to the Yankees in the first round of the playoffs, it’s nice to remove yourself from caring. On the other hand, as I mentioned before, you feel out of the loop. I liken it to the feeling of waking up from a long nap. You have no idea what time it is, what has transpired while you were out and occasionally you’re not quite sure where you are. It also leaves you with very little material to write about, which is why my return to 7IS will be an abbreviated one. Now I’m off to catch up with civilization, starting with the first installment of S & F’s NFL previews. I’ll leave the topic of discussion tonight open to anything and everything.

Here are today’s afternoon scores

And tonight’s action.

Rangers @ Indians

Royals @ Twins

Tigers @ Red Sox

Nationals @ Braves

Astros @ Marlins

White Sox @ Mariners

Phillies @ Cubs

Padres @ Brewers

Reds @ Cardinals

Pirates @ Rockies
