Well, after weeks of hype and controversy, we found out why CBS aired the Tim and Pam Tebow commercial sponsored by Focus on the Family, and not a gay dating site commercial. Both commercials …

The Morning After: June 10, 2009

tmalogoGood Friday morning, peeps.  Doesn’t the day after a birthday always feel like somewhat of a letdown?  There’s all the buildup to the big day, then the excitement of the day’s events, and then…back to reality.  Oh well, life goes on I guess.  Well, except for sparty; he gets a reprieve.  I gave him the morning off to recover from the S&F party last night.  You guys should have seen it…he was slamming Dr. Pepper like it was water.

You guys got big plans for this weekend?  I’m planning on some chillin’ at the crib followed by some eating and then some more chillin’ at the crib.  In other words, I’m going to live life like a dog this weekend.  I may even muster the motivation and energy to hit the neighborhood pool.

Cheerleaders robbing from the disabled

Eddie George repeats what we’ve heard many times over concerning trajic turns in former start athletes’ lives: McNair was having trouble filling the football-shaped void in his retirement.

In a weird twist, McNair had recently filmed a PSA regarding suicide.

Mysterious tremors along the San Andreas Fault?  Somebody call Val McKee.

Jeremy Mayfield solidifies his place in typical athlete druggie history by breaking his silence to deny, deny, deny.

Who even suggested that Les Miles would be on the hot seat?  That’s just asinine.

The Shrub is still mad at Smoke.  Hey, Kyle…get over it.  You woulda done the same thing!  And, if you would pay attention to the video, you’d see it was completely your fault.

Ho hum…Mike Phelps broke another world record.

Throwing a bone to the bossman…something about Michigan State (full disclosure, I didn’t read it).

Did you guys read the SI book excerpt article regarding Landon Donovan’s thoughts on Becks?  Donovan doesn’t retract his statements, but says he should have manned up first.  Maybe Landy thought Becks had replaced him with another short guy.

The yellow bracelet guy is just a fraction of a second from being the yellow jersey guy at the Tour de Lance.

The LPGA commissioner is being forced out.  If a tree falls in a forest…

It’s gonna be a very presidential All Star Game.

The Horns hooked the most dinero in the ‘07-’08 year.

Speaking of horns, it’s inevitable that you’ll get gored to death if you tempt fate too many times.

Saying Phelps is a pothead is like saying Bonds was a roider. They sell those smoking devices as tobacco use only and most kids follow those instuctions.

I seriously do not understand why southerners can’t let the Civil War go. It must be like 6 generations ago, not only is no one alive that fought in the Civil War, no one is alive who knew someone who was alive that fought the Civil War. I mean I don’t hold it against the British for the Revolutionary War. That was forever ago man.

I live just outside of Tampa and along I-75 there is one of the largest Confederate flags in the nation. This guy lives just outside of city limits so there is no ordinance over flying flags of any size where he is. The thing is freakishly huge. Check it out.

KWAN the best are the guys who talk about it like it was a football game played last week.

“If we had only done (insert strategy here) it would all be different.”

You really gotta go off the beaten path to meet them, but growing up in Gainesville, Charleston, and Little Rock, I’ve met my fair share.

That’s nothing we have a 50×80 U.S. flag in Fort Wayne.

    Never said it hadn’t.

He made it bigger this past year. Not sure why he didn’t go for the record though. I think that one in Fort Wayne is the only one that’s bigger. At least that was the case back in October.

Yep, largest continuously flying flag in America.

  • The myth with the guy in 2nd place was that he lived in the city limits and put up one and was fined so instead of taking it down and just going on with his life, he moved to where he was allowed to fly it. Not sure how much truth there is to that though.

Can’t imagine what a flag that size will run you. Especially if you factor in moving costs!

I was going to have to be Vancouver for the Winter Olympics this year. Then I saw the ticket prices. I’ll be watching it on TV.

Lucky. I only got to watch a few minutes before work. I will sneak out when they get close to the top of the last mountain. My prediction is Armstrong loses at least 30 seconds to his teammate Contador. Andy Schleck and Carlos Sastre are the two guys who may stay with Contador.

Some guy in college tried ambushing me in my closet in college. I nearly took his head off. I pulled back my punch in the last second when I realized it was him. I am so glad I didn’t hit him. Last time he tried that though.

Plans for this weekend are nuts for me right now. I have to get my Dad moved out of a rehab facility to a new assisted living home. Of course this was the weekend that my wife bought tickets for a matinee show to see Our Town at an off Broadway theater. Also I had planned to do a 100 mile ride on Sunday. Lucky I didn’t preregister since I probably won’t have time.
