Man, that went by super quick. Hard to believe that a year ago we emancipated ourselves from Dan Shanoff.
I had no idea how this thing would progress. When I first decided to just say; “forget you, Dan Shanoff. I do it myself,” I did not ever think I would end up with a blog that is frequented from all over the world. Never did it cross my mind that things that I wrote would be linked to several of the big blogs, or major newspapers. I most certainly didn’t think that I had the ability to piss of an entire fan base, or state for that matter. We are not a daily read for everyone, but I know we are for several more than I thought I would ever be.
The growth at Sparty & Friends has been pretty ridiculous. We first started here. It was meager beginnings, but the limited functionality of blogger got to me, so I moved us here. I then grabbed rights to the domain name, which I really need to renew soon. We built up a little bit of a following thanks to the The Big Lead and Major League Jerk.
I don’t want to completely rehash old posts that helped to shape the site, because GITC is supposed to do a little something with that later in the day. I just wanted to say thank you to all of our regular readers who keep us going each day. You are the ones that really made this site what it is today. You have influenced all of us in how we bring sports commentary to you. I know there are ads on the site, but honestly, we ain’t really making any cash. We haven’t even made enough to offset the cost of our hosting service.
I also want to take the time to thank of all the writers from this site. I know it is my name on the site, but it is just as much yours as it is mine. Your contributions obviously have impacted the growth here. Many of us have battle lines when it comes to our teams, which has brought great balance to this site. Really fellas, thanks for all your hard work. It is not always easy throwing posts together on regular basis, I know this. Especially when you have jobs and family stuff to attend to. I do wish this could be our regular job, but alas it is still just a hobby for us all.
Again, thanks again to everyone else. I look forward to the next year at this site,if we are able to keep it going for you.
