The Morning After: June 10, 2009

By sparty

The Morning AfterNope, this isn’t GatorTrey.  He is too busy sleeping in because he was up late at the ol’ basketball game.  I took one for the team and did TMA back-to-back. Don’t worry, I will be sure to throw a Treydmark in at some point in this post.

The school system that i live in closed their doors last week because of a swine-flu scare.  Yesterday my wife called and told me that our son was running a fever.  Rest assure, he is okay, and even if he had the swine-flu, it is still just the flu.  Oddly enough, the school had overreacted and it was just some kid that had typical Type A Influenza.  People need to settle down.

So the new Yankee Stadium is actually smaller.  Nice oversight by both the Yankees and Major League Baseball.

I am always very impressed when I read how much knowledge some people have when it comes to the MLB Draft.  JRod at Midwest Sports Fans is no exception.

This is getting out of control.  People need to stop crying about a salary cap in baseball, and worry more about a rookie signing bonus cap.

Another day, and another trade rumor in San Diego.  Now it is closer Heath Bell.  This is a joke, right?

Hey Izzy, you suck. Stop whining and be happy that someone still gave you a job.

The Rock HAS COMEBACK to Buffalo.

Remember when everyone said that Billy Beane was crazy for letting Tim Hudson, Mark Mulder and Barry Zito all go?  Yep, we all said it.  Anyway, Tim Hudson is working his way back.

Well, Atlanta won’t use him, either will San Fran.  30 more teams to go.

Please don’t drop McGahee, that means we will hear from Rosenhaus about how great he still is. Only problem is that he hasn’t been great since before the Fiesta Bowl.

Seriously, just take the franchise away from Memphis. Dear God, do it!

Carlos Boozer is trying to play it smart, make sure the blame falls directly on the Jazz.

Has a marginal player ever played in the league longer than Lindsay Hunter?

My best GatorTrey impression: LANE KIFFIN NEWS!!!!!  Wow, 6 violations already. That is unbelievable. Thanks for the entertainment. Somehow, you are making Al Davis look more sane by the minute.

Does anyone use Google Chrome?

Detroit tries to close out Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh tonight. I personally don’t see it happening. The Penguins will force a game 7, where of course Detroit will win.

In NBA action, look for the Magicians to bounce back at home and win game 3. They’re a resilient bunch and will shoot better at home.

    Brilliant!  (Quote)

Also, no mention of Tim Floyd resigning? USC seriosuly needs to get the death penalty in football and basketball.  (Quote)

I used it when it first came out, but I have a bookmark plug in (delicious) and no script in firefox. Chrome is nice but not enough to make me give up firefox.  (Quote)

It should be obvious to even the most dim-witted individual who holds an advanced degree in hyperbolic topology that the Magic and Pens would’ve won last night.  (Quote)

I’m glad the Pens won because now I don’t have to watch a chick flick Friday night.  (Quote)

Also, in redneck news, Mayfield’s suspension apparently was for meth. Nascar and meth. He’s almost as much of a redneck as miz.  (Quote)

despite the on court shortcomings of the Grizz, the players, coaches, and admin are notorious for being extremely charitable with their time and money to St. Jude. I actually felt sad for Memphis when Pau Gasol was giftwrapped to the Lakers not because of losing him as a hoops player, but because of losing his work with the kids at St. Jude. word is he was very involved and everyone loved him there. same thing with Shane Battier when he was still in Memphis.  (Quote)

kwsn – d00d, I heard that driving home yesterday. un-freaking-believable. what a moron.  (Quote)

I don’t get the attraction to meth. It just seems like an incredibly dumb choice. Even if you want to do drugs it seems like there are better alternatives than meth.  (Quote)

    Kwsn- cheap. Effective. addictive.  (Quote)

  • mizerle06 says:

meth is crazy, kwsn. if would never even go to a place where it’s been cooked. as sad as the reality is, the area I grew up in was the world’s top supplier and maker of meth for a long time. I think the crackdown has cleaned it up, but rural southern Appalachia is still notorious for producing meth.  (Quote)

  • mizerle06 says:

meth is so addictive, that little kids that live in houses where it’s cooked have to be treated for addiction…just by breathing in the fumes and crawling around in the dust it creates.  (Quote)

  • knightwhosaysni says:

Northeast Indiana is currently way up there in meth production. Probably the higher the unemployment rate goes the more people try and supplement it that way.

maybe. I would have said “kwsn is a meth head” though.  (Quote)

I would love to see them all re-united, but Screech will probably hold out…don’t think he really wants to go back to that role and play it up…plus he’s kinda a douchebag now.  (Quote)

cycledan, you have to understand that the majority of people that visit this blog grew up on that show.  (Quote)

Pretty difficult to when that show became popular when I was 14, but rock on if it makes you feel better.  (Quote)

Actually, Kelly is kinda fat now. At least, that’s how she looked on the Yahoo news article yesterday. And for parents, there is good advice in that article too — never let your child take the role as the nerd on a tv show. Screech is ruined for life and has to resort to releasing his own sex videos to make himself relevant for a while.  (Quote)
