On Second Thought…
Jameer Nelson’s comeback seems to have hit a roadblock. The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that Nelson will be held out of Game 1 of tonight’s NBA Finals and may miss the entire series. SHOCKER!!!
No big deal. As someone already told you, the Magic are better without him for this series.

The Magic are screwed. Cancel the Finals and just give the trophy to the Lakers.

I think I saw a poll on SportsNation asking the Lakers chances in the Finals without Sun Yue.

If Orlando beats LA, then is Dwight Howard as big a superstar as LeBron or Kobe? Of course not but I think he reaches Dwayne Wade status. (Was discussed on Mike and Mike this morning.)

I am rooting for Orlando but if I had to bet, I would say LA in 7 games. Also, there was a discussion on the radio about the 2-3-2 format for the finals when all the others were 2-2-1-1-1. I think it was that moron on ESPN Colin Cowherd wondering why.
The reason is the higher seed always get the home court for the odd numbered game. In the finals, they don’t seed the teams East vs. West. This way in a 5 game series, one team gets the extra home game and in a 7 game series, the other team gets the extra game. Also, since it is East vs. West, there is less travelling. In the 2-2-1-1-1 format, it potentially means flying across the country 6 times for the team that doesn’t have home court advantage (assuming each team is home when the series starts.)

Cycledan, the 2-3-2 format is garbage, they never play back to backs, traveling shouldn’t be an issue.

They have something one way the whole playoffs, then change it for the Finals? So you use a different set of rules to decide a champion? The Lakers lose one game at home in the first two, the burden is on them to win 2 out of 3 on the road, and that’s the advantage they earned?

Why? 2-2-1-1-1 awards one team home court advantage. Do you award the advantage simply by record? That favors the team that plays in the weaker (eastern) conference. I think the system is fine.

Cycledan, they already award the advantage based on record.
