Looking Back: NBA “Expert” Predictions

By sparty

Now that the All-NBA team has been announced, it is time to look back at our prediction post from back on October 28, 2008. We certainly did better overall with these prognostications than we did with out NFL picks.

The biggest glaring mistake by me was that of the Pistons and the Nuggets. The Chauncey Billups trade changed everything for those two teams fortunes, so I am taking a mulligan on that one. But our resident expert has some explaining to do with his Clippers predictions.

Actual Winners are as followed

ROY: Derrick Rose
Sixth Man of the Year: Jason Terry
Most Improved: Danny Granger
Defensive Player of the Year: Dwight Howard
Coach of the Year: Mike Brown
Most Valuable Player: LeBron James
1st Team All NBA: LeBron James, Dirk Nowitzki, Dwight Howard, Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade

These are the Authors predictions for the coming NBA season. We are likely to be wrong because this stuff is hard to pick. Got an issue with somebody’s pick? Call ‘em out in the comments. Got an issue with Big D not having picks? Try (and fail) to get in touch with him at his potentially 16 hour poker tournament today. Without further relay, our “expert” picks…

Seriously, anyone that tries to ever argue the Clippers will be good can be shot down with the response that you are talking about the Clippers.

Also, Bill Simmons just had a coronary that people picked Dunleavy for Coach of the Year.  (Quote)
