The Morning After: April 22, 2009

By GatorTrey

tmalogoLot’s of action around the NBA and NHL last night, with the Cavs, Blazers, and Lakers all posting “W’s” in roundball. In hockey, the Penguins, Red Wings, Canucks, Hurricanes (in thrilling fashion), and Sharks (getting off the snide) all won.

Baseball fans, fear not, we have a complete morning rundown coming your way.

Well it’s Hump Day! Get yer favorite inanimate object and… write a poem about why you think it’s so cool.

Dwight  Howard is your Defensive MVP…why am I beaming…not because he’s the best player on my hometown team…but because of this:

“DPOY – Howard…. famous for not playing D.”

Written here…Just to note, that is prediction criticism number 3 gone wrong…Click to link if you wanna see what others were missed. (Note: I think GITC knows basketball pretty darn well…he just over thinks and/or listens to the media too much sometimes)

Big game for the Magic tonight, and bigger news that Dwight’s injured eye is “Ok”.

So Eric Dampier did the smart thing, he called out a guy who has absolutely schooled his team time and time again. Now, the NBA is investigating. Why fine or suspend him? Just put about 20 highlights on NBA.com where he’s getting schooled during Thursday’s game, that shouldn’t be too hard.

Looks like Fenway’s sellout streak is struggling to stay alive. Still, that’s freaking impressive.

Elijah Dukes’s fine for showing late was offered to be paid for by the Great Falls Little League. He’s used to calling people for money, but usually for bail. Moving on up there Elijah!

Junior and Casey Mears get a swift talking to and probation for their confrontation in Phoenix…That would probably mean something if either was in the chase picture…but they aren’t. So for now, it’s about as relevant as Kyle Petty’s career.

Villanova’s Scottie Reynolds forgoes his senior season to enter the NBA draft…the even bigger news is that Spanish guard Ricky Rubio will too….and Davidson’s Steph Curry?

The Dominator is back…again. Yawn.

Hidden among the headlines: Penn State was fined for closing their doors to the media at last year’s Rose Bowl. See why it was hidden?

Twittering for life…I don’t tweet. I think it’s cool, but way too much work. Between work, the blog, and my home life twittering is just too much. That being said, there is one guy it isn’t too much for. My friend Matt. He’s trying to rally to become the 1st no name with 1,000,000 followers, so help a brotha out and add Matt to your Tweets.  His username is “Mattalog” I think his tweet is here.

LANE KIFFIN NEWS: Apparently he’s impressed by his father’s work ethic…You could have made better headlines saying he needed to get off his ass and work harder…
