Happy Hour: Batting Around

bud-sparty-logoNot in baseball mode yet? Too locked into the tournament? Well have we got a story for you today. In our never ending quest to be relevant at Friday Happy Hour I decided to pen a baseball post. Not just any baseball post though. It’s about a spring training game involving the Spartansville Spartys (that’s us)…it doesn’t really matter who played because it’s all about us.

We had an epic first inning as a matter of fact, we are still up to bat. The current score is 6-0 and there are two outs…let me recap how we got to this point.

Sparty came up to bat first and hit a lead off double. The links in TMA really got the fans into it. GITC was up to bat next…he bunted Sparty over to third with the incomplete version of the Duke post…it was scored a sacrifice, but GITC reached safely on an infield error. 1st and 3rd no outs. Batting third was Gator Trey who nearly took the pitch deep with a huuuuuuge hit to center…but the wind was blowing in. Sparty tagged and scored while GITC moved up to second. 1-0; one out…man on second still.

Mikey was no where ot be found so Trey grabbed a bat and headed to the plate again..He blooped a hit over the second baseman’s glove with a bubble post. 1st and third again…1 out.

Mikey finally woke up and came to the plate…he hit a ball to the gap that went up the left edge of the little mound in center, you know like the one the Astos have…too bad those Astros are gonna suck this year. Mikey got a double…but GITC scored…and Trey scored all the way from first….because thats what scrappy little white guys do. 3-0 Sparty’s and still only one out.

Miz has had alot of time on his hands to practice…and its really starting to show. Miz drilled a 2-0 pitch just out of reach of the first basemans glove up the line. It plated Mikey and Miz ended up with a triple. Miz didn’t clap his hands and get all excited though…he acted like he had been there before and gave a wave to Bruce Pearl in the stands…After the Pearl siting… the announcers naturally discussed the tournaments this weekend. 4-0 one out still.

So Mikey is up to bat now…and since we can’t have ghost runners, Spart came out to pinch run so Mikey could grab a bat…so here I am up to bat again for Happy Hour. The count is 2-2…and wouldn’t you know it – with this post I just deposited the ball out on to Waveland Avenue. Home Run beotches. 6-0….two outs and the Friday Night Commenters are coming up next..(thats you). Looks like there will be a pitching change – so lets take a look at weekend sports.

NCAA – too many games to list – seriously. You know whats going on…just flip between ever sports channel known to man in your region and nationally – you’ll get a game on.
NBA – I know you guys don’t care because of your fiendish approach to the college game right now…So here’s the link instead.
GOLF – Tiger is Playing this weekend…NBC
WBC – Meh…this Spartansville Game is Betteer…but just incase

Get back to talking about college basketball now and throughout the weekend…becasue it looks like this Spartansville game is gonna turn into a one sided affair anyways.
