I know that in general people hate critics, but the bottom line is that most of the time the critics are right. They don’t care what America likes. They don’t care what makes the network money. Their job is to separate good TV and bad TV.

I have not, do not, and will not watch(ed) American Idol. But I believe that there have been and currently are worse shows on TV. Any show in the so-called reality genre is a waste of so many resources on so many levels it literally makes my head hurt. Those types of shows make a boatload of money and are popular with the networks because the production costs of such shows are small compared to sitcoms, dramas, etc. They are popular because they make the public feel better about being teh Jersey Shore rejects they are in their own lives.
