For all the troublemakers the Cincinnati Bengals have signed, you would have thought that Terrell Owens would be the perfect fit into their organization. However, yesterday they made the decision to sign Antonio Bryant. Hard to believe that TO hasn’t found a home, yet. I understand his production last season wasn’t where it had been the past several years, but for one second, take a look at where he was playing. Buffalo trotted out Trent Edwards, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Brian Brohm. Not exactly the best signal callers in the NFL. TO is not a broken down old receiver. He still showed flashes that he can make the big play. He is a workout warrior, the man is in better physical shape than WRs that are 12 years younger than him. The knock against him has always been his attitude. If there is one team that has already handled a players known or perceived to have bad attitudes, it is the New England Patriots.
How doesn’t this make sense? Don’t tell me that TO and Randy Moss can’t coexist on the same team. For starters, you are only going to give TO a one-year deal. TO has shown that he can be very well behaved his first season anywhere. He was nothing but an exemplary teammate his first years in San Fran, Philly, Dallas and even last year in Buffalo, where nothing went right. TO can be a good boy for one year, especially if it gives him a shot to win the Super Bowl. He says his career highlight was playing there, over any other individual accomplishment. He wants that ring, plus the shot at one more lucrative contract. There won’t be in-fighting between him and Moss over who needs to get the ball. As long as the Patriots are winning, that will never become an issue.
TO will go over the middle. He isn’t afraid to take a hit like Randy Moss. We have seen Moss give up on passes that require him taking a chance with his body. With Wes Welker a question mark to make it back near the start of the season, there is a need for someone to be the guy that Tom Brady can count on to work into the middle of the defense, and with not many options in-house, TO could fill that void. Even if Welker was to make it back, he will not be 100%, as no one really ever is coming off knee surgery. This is an offense that likes to spread the defense out and throw a lot, so TO will get his touches. He also is still a deep threat, making it hard for defenses to double-team Randy Moss on the other side. He fits into the offenses ideally.
Bill Belichik can work with any personality, even though he lacks his own. The Pats have brought in players such as Moss, Corey Dillon, and Bryan Cox and have had success with them all. The Patriots in many ways have been the Yankees of baseball (and I know that irks NE fans). They have had stars or all kinds on their teams, but still find a way to win football games.
Finally, as a fans of football, this would be a perfect fit. Whether we like to admit it or not, we enjoy watching news with TO. We enjoy all his antics, because he isn’t on our team. If he was to self-destruct, who better for him to do it with than the Evil Empire of the National Football League.

Why? Why are you calling for the Patriots to get better. GatorTrey(Quote)
hey, i am just presenting the facts. sparty(Quote)
Nah I think it would be a good situation for TO. I also think he’d work well with Pete Carrol in Seattle. The rah rah attitude helps GatorTrey(Quote)
just noticed that this is gonna be a boston day… sparty(Quote)
but seattle sucks. it would be like playing in buffalo again. sparty(Quote)
East Coast Bias!!!! HawkEye19(Quote)
I’m sure the Pats have some other goofy scrappy receiver to take over welker’s role while he heals Johnny(Quote)
You’d be correct. Julian Edelman. cbh49er(Quote)
but wes welker is really friggin good. that offense isn’t the same without him. sparty(Quote)
True but you don’t sign TO and have him try to do the welker role. Welker is just too good at what he does. You do sign TO, pair him on the outside with Moss and let the scrappy guy do a poor man Welker until Wes is ready to return Johnny(Quote)
well, in theory, yes. but TO is willing to put his body on the line over the middle. sparty(Quote)
TO is on a completely different level than those guys.
I (meaning all Pats fans everywhere) don’t want TO and Belichick won’t sign him. The end. john(Quote)
starting to sound more and more like yankee fans… sparty(Quote)
I don’t quite agree with the Pats/Yankees analogy, but ok. john(Quote)
i think it would be a good move. the guy still has a lot left and you’d have an explosive threat on both sides of the field. lets see what he can do if he has a great quarterback throwing to him jj(Quote)
DO NOT Want. There – saved you all a five minute read. Big D(Quote)
