Happy Hour: NFL Hangover

By sae

Congratulations to the New Orleans Saints! Aints no longer. That was a really good game, not a lot of penalties or sloppy play (OK, a couple too many drops). Peyton may have had a Favre moment (a late TaINT), but Reggie didn’t help him a whole lot on that one either. Or Garcon on the 3rd down drop. Tough loss for KWSN, but he was classy in defeat.

I think it’s safe to say Doritos ruled the roost as far as the commercials go, some classics especially the dog collar one. The last couple seconds of the remake of ‘Nothing but net’ was cool. And I don’t remember what the commercial was for, and it wasn’t even very good, but Jim McMahon riding in on a scooter was hilarious.

Random ad quote:

Some guy: “Dude, you’re playing like Betty White out there.”
Betty White: “That’s not what your girlfriend said.”

Ad losers: the first 27 seconds of the ‘Nothing but net’ commercial. Seriously, Bird and MJ were iconic, does anyone outside of GITC and Trey actually care about Lebron and Dwight? The Dodge commercial with the guys saying all the stuff they put up with just so they can drive a Charger was lame.

Halftime was kinda meh. The Who looked OLD, and of course they conveniently fit in songs that CBS uses for their CSI franchise. Aren’t there some 80s or 90s bands that could bridge the generation gap?

Where does that leave us? Well, my understanding is we have an uncapped year coming up. So Jax will shed money since there is no salary floor and the teams that are close are going to spend through the nose. Of course, it won’t matter because Aaron Rodgers and company are bringing the Lombardi Trophy back to GB next season. At least I hope so, because a lockout could follow.

Anybody looking forward to the Winter Olympics coming up besides my wife? Man it’s going to be a slow month for sports.

Oh, and happy birthday to my dad today who isn’t reading this anyway.
