Well, after weeks of hype and controversy, we found out why CBS aired the Tim and Pam Tebow commercial sponsored by Focus on the Family, and not a gay dating site commercial. Both commercials were under scrutiny for groups from both sides, but pro-choice and other traditional left wing groups were outraged that only the Tebow ad had been given a green-light, even though nobody truly knew the content of the actual commercial.
It was thought to be a commercial of Pam telling her story about not having an abortion, when Tim was given little chance of survival in the womb, and possibly threatening her life. This of course put those above mentioned groups into a tizzy, especially since the gay-dating site commercial was not going to be placed. This was a hypocritical approach by CBS!!! How dare they choose to put an ad up about an issue that may offend some people, and not put up another?!?! Either way, it wasn’t hypocritical. CBS is a private entity and can choose to do whatever they want to line their pockets. Hypocrisy doesn’t exist in capitalism. Countless ads were rejected to air during the Super Bowl. The gay site was just one of many. Planned Parenthood was so offended, that they quickly put together an ad that can be seen now online that advocates pro-choice. Nothing wrong with that, the ad is not offensive, but just very petty.
So what did the ad say? If you were like Miz and missed it, you can see it after the jump.
Yeah, so offensive. How dare those Tebow’s tell us that they love one another. If you go to the Focus on the Family website, you can hear the full story of Pam’s struggles. That is a choice that is left to the viewer. No opinion or views were pressed upon me or you. If we want to hear more, we can search for ourselves, just like we could search for stories like hers before that commercial ever aired.
This was a classic case of assumption, and well, many people ended up looking like asses.

Color me shocked with Tebow took out his mom. Obviously, no matter your political feelings on the event, it wasn’t NEAR as racy as two guys making out.
That is why that commercial was dropped.

there weren’t doritos or beer involved so i pretty much tuned that commercial out

I was more offended by all the unfunny commercials that were supposed to be funny.

When he hit her, I actually thought it was a spoof, I was waiting for a Terry Tate apperance.

If the pro-choice side had kept quiet, I’m sure most viewers would have been unaware as to what the commercial was about.
This was well played by the Focus on Family side.

And I don’t want to watch two guys kissing. Hell, watching them run around in their underwear for two commercials in a row was bad enough.

A commercial with Tebow drinking beer and eating doritos would be funny.

I’m so over Budlight commercials…they’re all the SAME thing.

Pam Tebow also doubles for Mary Steenburgen. That’s why she was able to take that hit.

yeah, that got a big WTF out of me

The commercial was a big deal about nothing. My only problem was it was stupid. Everyone is trying to out do the next in doing the unexpected but the Tebow tackling his Mom bit was stupid.
As simple a promo as it was, I loved the Letterman, Oprah, Leno bit.

i didn’t, but i have an unhealthy hatred for oprah

btw, is the symbolism of the ad that Tebow will be a safety or LB in the pros?

I was shocked that both Leno agreed to do the bit and that NBC let him. Dave actually wrote the script himself

I was highly offended by the commercial. Man on woman violence is never funny!

I wasn’t shocked at all. Another Leno attempt to get people to hate him less. Sort of like when he invited Kimmel to do his show.
