The Morning After: New Year’s Eve, 2009

By mizerle06

The Morning AfterCan I stop using the Christmas TMA logo?  Good…cause I just did.  Happy New Year’s Eve…a.k.a. amateur night.  For those of us a little more mature, today begins the annual college football bowl-splosion.  We’ve had 15 games spread out from December 19 through last night, and will have 15 more between today (5 games), tomorrow (5 games), and Saturday (5 games).  We begin today’s slate at noon with the Armed Forces Bowl featuring Houston and Airforce.  Bring. It. On.

The Mrs. and I saw these stinkers when we were visiting San Fran last October.  And, when I say we saw those stinkers, I mean we smelled those STINKERS.

Even though BGSU lost in the thrilling finish to the Vandals of Idaho last night, WR Freddie Barnes secured the season receptions record with a 17 catch, 219 yard performance that included a hat trick of touchdowns.  More impressive than that is last night wasn’t even his best game this year (against Kent State: 22 receptions, 278 yards, and another hat trick).  *whistles*

Speaking of setting new records

Oops!

8-5 back to poking opposing d-backs in the ribs.

Not wanting to be outdone, Stonehands Edwards guarantees a win.

Using the Twins’ logic, I could probably sell eleventy threveteen hundred tickets to watch me punch numbers into my calculator next week in my cubicle.  The problem is that I don’t have any spare seats, so I guess we’ll never know.

Not quite a sock puppet.

Trouble in paradise Detroit?  Darko can relate to Charlie.

Needs more backpedaling.

We may see Luck at 2pm today.

LeBron’s finally number 1 (last paragraph).  Maybe he can actually win a game on his birthday?

A salary cap-less NFL is looming.

Sounds like Agent Zero needs to stop packing heat at the Verizon Center.

Confusion in Gainesvegas.  The Ole Ball Coach thinks he can help.

Bowl games’ economic impact on GatorTrey’s hometown.  That’s a lot of skrilla.

Antoine Walker owes $900k (i.e. Big D pocket change).

The Mets are concerned with Jason Bay’s shoulder strength?  Prolly cause they plan on the whole team being carried by them.
