Sparty, Mizerle06, PatPhish, and I had a conversation going, it started when Pat emailed asking if we waited in line all night to see The Twilight Saga: New Moonyet. Noticing the awkward trend that the conversation was going, I quickly jumped to my feet and gave my 10 best rivalries in college football…TAKE THAT Charlie Swan!!!
Just to note: Pat stepped in and said we can’t list the same school twice, so if you have more than one rival…we took your best.
Anywho, This is what we got for our top 10 Rivalries in college football:
1. Ohio State/Michigan – (coddles a Big Ten homer) “Best rivalry…yes it is”
2. Auburn/Alabama – Skillet Bowl! That’s not another cool name for the Iron Bowl. It’s a direct reference to the amount of aggravated batteries charges that increase post-game.
3. Oklahoma/Texas – The only rivalry game that has a Tilt-A-Whirl!
4. Stanford/Cal – Known as the “Big Game” because these two teams sucked for decades.
5. Florida/Florida State- You can’t spell Isolated Fart without Florida State. Seriously…Diarrhea.
6. Army/Navy- You can’t beat having the USA’s most powerful people all in one spot at one time.
7. Harvard/Yale – This and this alonemakes this rivalry AWESOME. Plus the tailgates with Rieussec and Camembert!!!
8. Southern/Grambling – Sure the bands mean more than the game, but it’s one hell of a show!
9. USC/Notre Dame – A strong rivalry that takes a backseat to whatever other game is on by the end of the first quarter
10.Williams/Amherst- A favorite of Beano Cook, who may or may not know that the forward pass is legal now.
Others considered: Oklahoma/Nebraska; Florida/Georgia; Alabama/Tennessee; FSU/Miami; Texas/Texas A&M; FAMU/Bethune Cookman; Notre Dame/Navy

While florida cancelled the Miami series, it had to do with scheduling issues when teh SEC went to 8 games. They had to get rid of Miami or FSU and Miami was
kicking our asses every yearnot as big of a rivalry to our fanbase.On the otherhand, Penn State has NO real rival.

It’s partly Joe, he’s upset at Pitt for joining the Big East and not being apart of this Eastern Conference he was trying to set up, but it’s more than that. The economics of supporting 29 athletic teams with only the football program requires a certain number of home games and the school doesn’t find it feasible to give up a home game every other year to Pitt.
And besides Sparty most years Pitt sucks and would be used as more evidence that we don’t play anybody, this year being an anomaly
