2009 Champion New York Yankees
The New York Yankees completed one of the most improbable *snickers* runs in the history of baseball. After overcoming the hardest road ever to reach the World Series, the Yanks dismantled the formidable defending champion Philadelphia Phillies in 6 games to capture their 27th World Series Title.
(Spartacast teaser alert!!!)Patphish hates hyperbole, I get it. Frustrates the shit out of him. Johnny Damon and his steals of 2nd and 3rd in game 4 may seem like a routine heads up baseball play and some shoddy defense, but you won’t see that again in a World Series, ever. Kinda like a Mets pitcher throwing a no-hitter in any type of game. Hell, he wouldn’t remember if it happened (Panthers vs Avs). You aren’t off the hook either, Big D. Confusing a sweep and a 7 game series is pathetic.
Good thing the Yanks used Pettitte as a lefty specialist for game 6 and of course the game 7 that never happened, right? Go back to your calculator.
Alex Rodriguez has the proverbial monkey off his back, and can tell all of you to go fly a kite fuck yourselves. Thanks Kate.
World Series MVP Hideki Matsui better be re-signed to be the Yankees DH next season.
Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada and Andy Pettitte now only need 5 more rings to catch Yogi.
In 1923, the Yankees opened Yankee Stadium and won a World Series. You know what they say about history repeating itself.
Yankees fans hope George Steinbrenner is really capable of enjoying what happened this season. Thank you, Boss.
Clown is right, they are the team of the decade. Two decades in a row, and 7 of the last 9.
Since the Giants haven’t been scoring enough at home, I felt this would be appropriate. JP, no Jay Z.

that’s pretty crazy. unfortunately for Yogi, he only needs about $200 million to catch up with any of those guys.

So now that beisbol is over can we expect 2000 word Nascar previews?

As I said earlier the curse of the Trey-bino is no mas. I was starting to get too much flak for it…I’m glad the monkey is off my back.
Go Yanks.

Big D, go ahead and just delete this whole section. Blame it on Peter Griffen.

I look forward to seeing Kate Hudson get a plaque in Monument Park next year.
(Quote)
that would be because any pitcher over the age of 7 knows to cover 3rd base.
(Quote)
Totally agree. Re-sign Damon too.
(Quote)
Damon is gone.
(Quote)
Matsui is likely gone, regardless. I think they’ll keep Damon
(Quote)
Damon stays, Matsui goes, Pettitte retires.
done.
(Quote)
i think it would be the wrong decision. matsui is the perfect DH. go get Carl Crawford to play left.
(Quote)
Maybe, but I think matsui’s going to go finish his career in Japan, leaving the Yanks to resign Damon
(Quote)
Pettitte will comeback.

NASCAR’s over too…Jimmy J has a firm lead in The Chase. Game Over.
(Quote)
Agreed. One more year.

That’s why someone needs to trail…Turn backwards on the track and just take out Johnson…game over Juan Pablo Montoya wins..>Everyone in the stands gets free Taco bell courtesy of Bob Griese.

I think he should go to some team in AAAA and be a CY Young contender for the next few years.

the punctuation here made my head explode and now there’s brains on my keyboard.

New Players on the Yanks in 2010:
Carl Crawford or Jason Bay
John Lackey
(Quote)
I agree though. we need to get Tim Donaghy and Bennett Salvatore onto the track to work their magic. I’m personally tired of Johnson winning.
(Quote)
More likely Bay, I think Crawford is sticking in Tampa. I think BJ Upton is the odd man out in the Bay.
(Quote)
really? isn’t crawfords option like 10 mil?
(Quote)
No on all the above. You either will have Damon on a short, “cheap” deal or Holliday on a not short and not cheap deal.
(Quote)
Mets are getting Holliday, book it.
(Quote)
They will suck it up and pay it. No way they let him go knowing there’s a 99.9% chance he would end up in either Boston or the Bronx.
(Quote)
here’s what happens:
Pettitte retires. Yanks re-sign Yogi Berra and Reggie Jackson and rename the “Core Four” to the “Still Alive Five”.

Dude. I was 14.

as you were in the the Huskies won the NT, bet you remember all of that.
(Quote)
That was a life changing event. Avs/Panthers………not so much. I only watched to see the greatest defenseman besides Orr hoist the Cup.
(Quote)
jeebus! he wasn’t even on that team!!!
(Quote)
unless you meant Uwe Krupp?

96 was a tough year. Or so Im told.

Congrats Sparty! At least you’ll have one Champ in NY since the Giants suck!
(Quote)
and boston has none.

Truthfully, none of you(or me, for that matter) knows which FA will be where next year. So, if it’s ok with you, I won’t book it. And no, I don’t expect him to go back to St. Louis; but that’s just a gut feeling. I’m not betting my disability check on it.

Congrats to the Yankees, it only took 9 years and 2 Billion Dollars but you finally bought a World Series Championship Again!!!!!
(Quote)
Yup and it feels great! Nice to be the rich kid on the block.
