Seventh Inning Stretch-I’m no prophet

By KnightWhoSaysNi

null

I didn’t really have anything on my mind that I wanted to talk about today so I thought I’d review some of my predictions to see how bad they were.

My just after the all star break MLB predictions:
AL East: Yankees. Correct
AL Central: White Sox. Not even close.
AL West: Angels. Correct
Wildcard: Red Socks. Correct
NL East: Phillies. Correct
NL Central: Cubs. What was I thinking?
NL West: Dodgers. Correct
Wildcard: Rockies. Correct
World Series: Dodgers over Yankees. The Dodgers let me down.

Overall not a bad showing on the old beisbol picks. The city of Chicago let me down in a big way. I blame Barry.

Before the season started I also predicted who would end up in BCS Bowls.

SEC champ: Florida. Certainly could happen, if not they will surely get an at large.
Big 12 champ: Oklahoma. Not gonna happen. If Bradford had stayed healthy it may have worked out different.
Pac 10 champ: USC. Delightfully way off. I’ve never been so glad to be wrong. May still end up with an at large slot though.
Big 10 champ: Penn State. Very unlikely, could get an at large though.
ACC: North Carolina. Guh. But really the ACC sucks and you may as well draw a name out of a hat from that conference.
Big East: South Florida. This is just an indefensible pick. Bad job by me there.
At Larges: Ohio St., Texas, Alabama, TCU. These 4 very well may get at larges so I’ll consider those a success.

Finally, I went through the NFL schedule before the season and predicted every team’s final record. Hilarity ensues:

New England 11-5. Right on pace for that.
New York 8-8. Ditto
Miami 6-10. They’ll probably end up around that.
Buffalo 6-10. Halfway there.
Pittsburgh 12-4. Sounds about right.
Baltimore 10-6. Probably will be close.
Cincinnati 5-11. Only if Carson Palmer gets maimed and they go into a tailspin. I seriously whiffed on that one.
Cleveland 4-12. I was way too optimistic on them.
Indianapolis 12-4. Probably worst case scenario at this point.
Jacksonville 10-6. Nah they suck, no way do they get to 10 wins.
Tennessee 9-7. In miz’s dreams.
Houston 8-8. Seems like this might be the year they break out and make the playoffs.
San Diego 11-5. Eh, probably.
Kansas City 9-7. Guess I was too high on Cassel. They suck.
Denver 4-12. Yikes, they sure proved me wrong in a big way.
Oakland 3-13. Like shooting fish in a barrel.
New York 12-4. Too optimistic at this point.
Dallas 11-5. Possibly.
Philadelphia 9-7. Too pessimistic at this point.
Washington 8-8. No fucking way this happens.
Chicago 13-3. Ditto
Green Bay 10-6. Only if they figure out their ‘protection issues’.
Minnesota 9-7. Only in my and sae’s dreams do they finish this poorly. We can all hope though.
Detroit 2-14. Right on pace.
Atlanta 9-7. They’ll do better than that.
Carolina 8-8. Seriously, who knows with these guys.
New Orleans 7-9. They’ll do way better than that.
Tampa Bay 7-9. Way way off. Bad pick by me.
San Francisco 9-7. Probably too optimistic.
Arizona 7-9. I want to say they’ll do better than that but are they really any good? This division is just awful.
Seattle 4-12. They kinda suck so this may end up about right.
Saint Louis 3-13. Could end up right.

Colts over Bears in Super Bowl. At least one half of that will end up right!

On tap tonight in sports:

CFB: Bowling Green at Buffalo.

NBA: Washington at Cleveland
Denver at Indiana
Boston at Philadelphia
Orlando at Detroit. /magic in 4
Phoenix at Miami
Milwaukee at Chicago
Lakers at Oklahoma City
Utah at Dallas
Atlanta at Portland

NHL: Boston at Detroit
Atlanta at Montreal
Tampa Bay at Toronto
Rangers at Vancouver
Pittsburgh at Anaheim

Also, on ESPN, 30 for 30 deals with the death of Len Bias. John should probably not watch. Following that the WSOP goes from 18 players down to the final table.

Streak for the Cash props:
Bowling Green at Buffalo.
Phoenix at Miami. I’m taking Miami.
Tampa Bay at Toronto
Rangers at Vancouver.

Protection issues aren’t likely to be solved, I see 9-7 and missing out on the wildcard.

you might be right, I could totally see the Bears losing another super bowl

I think that is true too. I don’t like it though as she was a favorite of mine

Was working out watching it. CAnt’ even say it was because it was preseason since they played their starters almost the whole game. Just awful. However Lemoyne played really good basketball and deserved it. I also used to live a mile or two away from Lemoyne so I am happy for them.

Not so happy that we are going to the Coaches vs Cancer classic at MSG. I was hoping that Cuse would be competitive. Who knows? It is a long season.
