I would like to announce that from now on the Monday S&D will not include wrap-ups of games — unless of course there is something that needs to be covered — but will include the weekly S&D. These will be players who had performances even higher or lower than what normally qualifies them to appear in this space. I will also keep an S&D list which will run the best games of the year so far and will have even higher and lower standards. Here are the first versions…
Weekly Studs
1. Carmelo Anthony (11/1 vs. Grizzlies) – 15/26 FG, 1/3 3PT, 11/12 FT, 7 REB, 5 AST, 2 STL, 42 PTS
2. Brandon Roy (10/31 at Rockets) – 12/20 FG, 5/7 3PT, 13/13 FT, 6 REB, 4 AST, 42 PTS
3. O.J. Mayo (11/1 at Nuggets) – 17/25 FG, 4/8 3PT, 2/2 FT, 5 REB, 4 AST, 40 PTS

5. Louis Williams (10/31 at Knicks) – 10/12 FG, 7/8 FT, 10 REB, 7 AST, 27 PTS
Weekly Duds
1. Matt Barnes (10/30 at Nets) – 0/6 FG, 0/2 3PT, 1/3 FT, 4 REB, 0 STL, 0 BLK, 3 TO, 2 PF, 1 PT, 24 MIN
2. Nick Young (10/30 at Hawks) – 0/8 FG, 0/2 3PT, 0/0 FT, 1 REB, 0 AST, 0 STL, 0 BLK, 1 PF, 0 PTS, 13 MIN

So those are your Week 1 Studs. Unfortetly for the Studs and fortunetly for the Duds, none of them reached the level to be put on the list for the year. Too bad. Maybe this week.
After the jump are last night’s highlights and lists…

I like Durant but looking at this line he was a bigger dud than the other guy. The formula needs to be tweeked or something to include playing time

Johnny Damon’s Double Steal > Paul Pierce > Dave Roberts

Durant was very narrowly behind him. Playing time is included in the formula, it’s just that Durant’s free throws bailed him out a lot.

Then free throws have too much sway into this formula
(Quote)
Paul Pierce would have had a triple steal…and GITC still wouldn’t have put him on the studs list.
(Quote)
It’s not free throws per se, it’s points. He still had 16. Also 5 boards and only 1 turnover.
