The Morning After: Happy Halloween!

Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson before the break-up

This was a holiday that gets you excited at 3 different phases of your life.

The first time you care about this is when you yourself are a young child, to somewhere around puberty.  The whole dressing up part is really a big deal the first few years, the candy is a big deal every year during this allotment of years.  I wore some interesting costumes as a youth.  I can remember dressing up in elementary school as a Cowboy, Batman, Mickey Mantle, Dracula, and in 5th grade I vividly remember myself and 3 of my white suburban friends dressing up as Ice Cube, Eazy E, MC Ren and Dr. Dre.  Yep, we were N.W.A.

It wasn’t until around junior year of high school that Halloween became interesting again.  It was at that time that Halloween drinking parties were becoming more of the norm for all of us.  This gave us guys a chance to drink and try to get laid by the girls who all dressed like sluts in some type of way.  This would go on thru college and beyond for most folk.

Once the parties ended, it just became another night until we became married and with kids.  Then it gets exciting to see the enjoyment of your child going thru the first phase again.  Last year, my son was dressed up as Superman.  He loves Superman, thanks to me.  When we took him to Party City to pick out a new costume, we thought he might go the Cowboy route, but then he saw a more elaborate Superman costume than he had the year before.  Though we tried to convince him otherwise, he is going as the greatest superhero again.  He just loves it.  He even knows that Clark Kent is Superman. He sees Smallville come on and he knows that the guy is Superman even though he doesn’t wear the outfit.  Anyway, I look forward to taking him trick or treating, because I need a chocolate fix myself.  Hoping the economy has impacted too many people from giving out full size Milky Ways.  Most underrated candy bar?  Take 5.

Remember what I said about girls dressing like sluts for Halloween? Yeah, here ya go.

Does Mort have his mind on one of those girls?

Speaking of those ESPN exploits, who do you want to bet on for that at the company Halloween party in Bristol?

Stan Van Gundy is just upset that the Ron Jeremy costume doesn’t help him score with the chicks because all the costume isn’t EXACTLY like the real one.

Not only does Duke suck, they are a bunch of fah-gos as well.

This is supposed to be the gold standard in sports talk radio.  Right off the bat I knew the Cubs and the Big Red Machine.  First team that came to mind was the Machine, because Joe Morgan never shuts the hell up about them.

Ole Miss @ Auburn and Talladega.  Now that is one helluva trip these boys have planned.

The best part of this post is not that it is about Mariano Rivera, is that it is a Red Sox fan that writes about him.

Remember when Spencer called me out for not putting Shawne Merrimen on my Top 5 NFL Pass Rushers list?  Guess how many sacks he has this year?  Still counting?  You shouldn’t have ever got to 1.  Just thought I would mention that.

Anyway, catch you later for some college football, and maybe some World Series action. I will miss the start of the Yankees Game 3 win in Philly, but should be around at some point.  For you young kids *glances at JRod* be safe tonight and enjoy whatever party you are hitting up.
