It’s finally happened. We here at Sparty and Friends have entered the next phase of blogging; hosting a podcast. I can feel your excitement oozing through the screen…
The inaugural S & F Podcast is now available for download at the bottom of this page. It may require a quick five minute free software installation of Pando.
The podcast is just shy of an hour long, and consists of Sparty, Big D, Trey and JP Manahan blathering on about college football, the NFL, and other such topics of current import.
We’re hoping to make this a weekly Thursday occurrence for your downloading pleasure, hopefully incorporating all of our authors on different podcasts as we go along. Maybe we even get some interviews and such. Who knows where this will go?
As for this initial podcast, here’s some highlights to keep an ear out for as you enjoy the dulcet tones of four baritone-challenged men arguing about sports…
First 8+ Minutes – Trey gives us the breakdown of his “30 in 30″ CFB series of team rankings and previews.
8:30 – Sparty defends Lloyd Carr! For two full minutes!
14:00 – Oregon vs. Boise State Preview. Sparty pisses off Boise State Fans. Again. Trey defends the Broncos, er… sort of.
21:30 – Preview of the rest of Week 1 action in the 2009 CFB Season. Upsets, predictions, etc.
29:00 – Some good Minnesota / Syracuse breakdown talk. It’s Greg Paulus people!
35:30 – NFL Preview Talk. DEEE-TROIT FOOTBALL! Listen to Sparty & Big D break down Matthew Stafford’s chances as an NFL Starting quarterback while Trey apparently decides to send a couple e-mails throughout the conversation…
39:30 – Big D: Calvin Johnson in college was “Stupid Good”. I’d like to thank Stuart Scott for lending me that line…
46:00 – Discussion about the “WildCat” and it’s future in the NFL. Trey continues sending his e-mails…
54:05 – Sparty pisses off Boise State Fans one more time, just for the hell of it.
So give it a download, give it a listen, and give us your comments in the usual space. Be gentle, we all have very fragile egos…

consider yourself on the docket.
(Quote)
Sweet. Not sure I will ever listen to the one I am on. Listening to your own voice is kind of freaky.
(Quote)
a lot of advantages of pando guys. we hope to have the podcast set up soon the way you like it. but pando allows you to send large files to people, so it is a good download nonetheless.
plus, Big D really needs to be in radio.
(Quote)
Even though you don’t have any Boston sports on the agenda, I still look forward to listening to this.
(Quote)
Big D’s got the radio voice
(Quote)
We tawk Pats
(Quote)
college kinda dominated the discussion because it opens this week. there will be plenty of NFL next week.
(Quote)
can’t wait for all six of you to listen.
(Quote)
See, that’s odd. I’ve always thought my voice was horrible for radio even if my face is perfect for it.
(Quote)
Was waiting for the obligatory face for radio joke.
(Quote)
You can always count on me for the obligatory, way too obvious anything jokes…
(Quote)
trying to listen to it, but work keeps interrupting me. sparty doesn’t sound anything like leonidas
(Quote)
I was lying in wait to say it, you just beat me to it.

Work is blocking it or something so I’ll have to wait until I get home.
Going on a road trip this weekend (to the in-laws), so this will be good diversion. Hopefully it will keep me from falling asleep on the dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair, warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air…
(Quote)
Personally, I’d rather listen to the Eagles’ Live in Melbourne album on a road trip than my own voice breaking down College Football, but that’s just me.
Hope your road trip isn’t any more than an hour long FT, otherwise you’ll have to listen to us twice.

I will be one of the 6 to listen to the podcast….just have to wait until I get home. looking forward too it.
(Quote)
I’ll have it memorized. It’s 5 hours each way.
(Quote)
I was hoping miz would be on too. I loved Hee Haw!
(Quote)
We’ll have to bring Miz in to mark the end of Tennessee’s National Title hopes after they lose the first game of the year…
(Quote)
whoa…shit just got real in here.
(Quote)
I figured that’d bring you out of your hiding place in the shadows
(Quote)
I listened. Just finished in fact.

it was quite melodic, right?

Better than Simmons voice. I was playing online mini-golf simultaneously. I can’t just listen to something and have that be my only focus, it’s weird.

I have know idea how Lane Kiffin became involved with Chelsea and European soccer.

and…done. good job guys, i think trey needs a quieter keyboard next time
(Quote)
damn. I hope that the get win some sort of appeal to lessen it.
(Quote)
really. Was he checking his email or smashing flies on it? I haven’t heard keyboard pounding that loud since last time I was at my dad’s.
(Quote)
the microphones are really sensitive, i guess. he was drafting for fantasy football.
(Quote)
My fault guys…No I am very loud on a keyboard. Normally I wouldn’t be on. At that point I had wsome problems drafting a couple players.
I never really really used a computer regularly until I was probably 20 or so, so I am a hunt and peck typer that pounds the keys.
You aren’t the only ones to say that…I get it from the court reporters too…in fact, one go so annoyed that it was heard on teh recording that she brought me one of those silent keyboards.
(Quote)
no biggy. i was impressed with how well it flowed, not a lot of dead air and it didn’t turn into a screaming match like the ‘professionals’ trying to talk over each other
(Quote)
I know I am biased, I thought it flowed great. We all knew when to jump in, and we kept it moving.
(Quote)
i can’t believe the most emotional i got was over lloyd carr. i just think the guy got a raw deal. guy was a class act.
(Quote)
we all know you’re a closet michigan fan, it’s ok.
(Quote)
And Miz thought shit got real when I went after Tennessee… look out boys
(Quote)
where is the spam button?
(Quote)
i was a little disappointed that Big D didn’t have the Boston accent
(Quote)
He does it you listen closly enough.
(Quote)
I’ve tried very hard to hide that accent over the years… It comes back whenever I’m living in the Boston area – like now.
(Quote)
good job on the podcast. i like it.
(Quote)
Nice job guys. Definitely flowed very well.
