Another sen-SAE-tional Seventh Inning Stretch
Finally attended a live sporting event this year. Traveled the 120 miles to Miller Park to see the Brewers face the Astros on Saturday evening…I really have to find a job back in Wisconsin. This was also the first game I attended at Miller Park (I’m a poor excuse for a fan sometimes, I know)
Anyway, that 120 miles of all interstate driving took me 3+ hours. Frickin’ road construction…at least 60 miles of my drive was torn up. I was not in the best mood by the time I arrived, especially since we had planned to eat at BD’s before the game. Ended up eating someplace quicker.
Walked through the parking lot full of tailgaters on the way to the stadium. Brewer fans are much more attractive than Packer fans. (insert joke about that being a low bar)
Three kids threw out the “first” pitches. I would guess the first two brothers were 6 and 8. The third kid that came out was maybe 4. All 3 of them fired it in pretty well. After each one I said, “Yup, our prez is a puss.”
Our game was the stellar pitching matchup of Moehler vs. Boo-urns. Mike Burns was amazingly effective, going 7 and only giving up a 2 run shot to Hunter Pence in the 7th. Even David Weathers was effective in relief and then we got to see Todd Coffey sprint in from the bullpen with a time of 11.66 seconds. They use a logo for the sprint on the scoreboard that is very similar to the S&F logo. On the offensive side, Prince absolutely crushed a ball with the bases loaded but got just under it so it was only a sac fly. Brewers won 6-2.
Chorizo won the sausage race, it was a relay from adults to kids in smaller costumes. I think Usain Bolt was inside the little Chorizo costume, it wasn’t even close after the handoff.
Does anyone need a JJ Hardy? Our rookie SS Escobar looked awesome out there.
When we talk about this game in the future, our fondest memory will be Frank Catalanotto’s batting music. We were cracking up every time he came up to bat.
What’s the oddest memory you have from a ballgame you’ve been to?

Yanks on the west coast so it is tough to see the whole game. As a little kid, I used to listen on the radio in a dark room so my parents wouldn’t know I was up after midnight listening. Weird thing was at that age, I wouldn’t doze off. Now I wouldn’t have a chance.
I remember going to Yankee Red Sox games in the 70’s at Yankee Stadium and there were always several fights during the game. I assumed they were between Boston and NY fans. Funny that you don’t see as much violence anymore. Maybe because ticket prices are so high that you don’t want to get thrown out?
Also is it true what my friend told me that beer at all ballparks has half the alcohol of regular beer?

if he said it while trying to convince you to buy him two beers, then no.
