All Saturday Sports! (or whatever else Miz calls this)

By GatorTrey

saturdaysportsAnother edition of ASS is upon us and you’ve got a substitute in this week. Mizerle06 decided to take his wifey on a weekend getaway leaving me in charge, like Charles.

Last night I didn’t get the Yanks/Sox game locally so we went for Mexican and watched Vantage Point. Note to anyone who wants to see that movie. Just go ahead…give your wife/girlfriend/best friend/mom a blunt object and let her/him beat you with it for about an hour and a half. It will be much more enjoyable and make a lot more sense.

Anyways…On television?

Bridgestone Inivtational – 2pm CBS (Golf Channel coverage before that) – Tiger and Phil are playing, so most of America will find this relevant.

AZ Alkmaar vs. Sparta- 2:30 – ESPN Deportes – No clue who either of these teams are, but Sparta…Sparty. We gotta root for them.

Nationwide Series- Watkins Glen – 3pm – ESPN2 – A little warmup to tomorrow’s road course race.

The Hambletonian- 3:30pm – NBC – Harness racing’s biggest event of the year!!!! Live from New Jersey!

Sox v. Yankees – 4pm – FOX – After last night’s burnout extra inning game (Boston’s second this week) should be interesting to see how bad the Boston bullpen is.

There is the Pro Football Hall of Fame Inductionsat 7pm tonight…If you’re into hearing people gush for 2 hours…and Berman…

As for me? I don’t have to go out with the wife, my sister has volunteered herself. I’m thinking a couple cold ones and a chair in the backyard while reading The Big Bamboo by Tim Dorsey. I’m pretty amped about this book because the book is named after…The Big Bamboo! A local watering hole that my friends and I frequented for years when I’d come home for school breaks. I wrote a lot more than this but as I wrote I decided this deserves a post of its own…So as I get more down the road, I’ll pay my respects to the only bar I could ever stamp myself as a “regular”…and a pretty awesome sports related story.
Have a good Saturday!

Yeah, I’m sure whatever he tested positive for will get leaked sometime soon, so he better sure as hell hope it’s a supplement and not a steroid.  (Quote)

this is the way i read it, the MLBPA put out a notice just before the press conference stating that legal OTC supplements could lead to a positive test. also a bunch of stuff about how everything is supposedly sealed, and they won’t get into details of the tests, unlike the “lawyers” and the NYTimes has. then Ortiz gives his supplement reasoning. I smell a whole lot of BS. Public perception is going to be that he took roids until everything is unsealed, but it seems like what they tested positive for is going to be harder to prove. We live in a day and age that perception is reality.  (Quote)

Ortiz was definitely roiding it up. His stats tell the tale.  (Quote)

Testing has been in place since Ortiz put up his stats.

    /Red Sox homer’d  (Quote)

Ortiz in 2003 had 11 more homers, 26 more rbis and .122 higher ops than any year prior to that.

    /not red sox homer’d  (Quote)

  • knightwhosaysni says:

By the way that equates to a 55% increase in homers and a 34.67% increase in rbis.  (Quote)

The Red Socks suck this year, they might make the playoffs but no way do they win the AL pennant.  (Quote)

Jim Joyce is a retard. Why is it that everyone except the umpire, knows when a pitcher is intentionally and unintentionally throwing at the hitter?  (Quote)

  • cycledan says:

Well I felt the Yanks had a significant starting pitching advantage in games 1&3 and the Sox had a slight advantage in games 2 & 4. I still think Lester is slightly better than Pettite but the Yanks are hitting better now and their bullpen is more rested so it is a coin toss. Going in, I wanted to see a split or hopefully 3/4 but of course now it is time to get out the brooms.

If Yanks win tomorrow night then the Red Sox, Rays and Rangers are all competing for the wild card.

After starting the season 0-8, I am really enjoying this as a Yankee fan.  (Quote)
