The only reason I go to Yahoo! Sports instead of ESPN nowadays is because ESPN's front page has way too much crap going on. Yahoo!'s page loads quickly with the headlines clearly displayed. The only reason I go to ESPN anymore is for Bill Simmons, and that's only when my RSS feed tells me that a new column is up. Which is rarely.

yahoo gets hits because people use it as there home page for mail, and because they post tantalizing short titles for stories that make you click because they lack details, not because they are good.

Do you know people who use Yahoo! as their main source of sporting news?

Maybe if ESPN wasn’t too busy making their reporters into TV stars, they could actually report accurate information on their website

Boom. You hit the nail on the head.

GITC,

You're mistaking me not looking at the news for a few hours with ESPN breaking the Carter trade. Tim Povtak at AOL Fanhouse broke the deal, followed by Wojo at Yahoo, the Orlando Sentinel confirmed a done deal at 4:45...ESPN didn't comfirm for almost 45 minutes after that.

My point is that each place gets things at varying times. Of course you can pick out single stories and say that ESPN was beat. My point is that everyone does exactly that. Everybody knows a few examples. But that’s out of 1000s of pieces of news a week. Nobody ever makes a big deal out of ESPN beating everybody to the punch, do they?

that wasn't your point. first you said yahoo doesn't pull the number espn does. they do, I used stats. you did not. then you said ESPN still beats Yahoo most of the time, but they rarely do. and if they do, it is full of inaccuracies. watch at the trade deadline for mlb at how many trade pieces they get incorrect.
