The Morning After: July 8, 2009

By GatorTrey

good-morning-vietnam-17Goooood Mooooooorning Vietnam! It’s 0630 hours. What does the “O” stand for? O my God, it’s early!”

I know yens are waking up bright and early hopping in your vehicle of choice and or telecommuting onto this website. We’ve darn near been here for 1 year! Can you believe that shit? We’ll worry about that tomorrow, but I just wanted to use my TMA to thank Sparty for allowing me to be a part of your workday for about the last year.

Speaking of which I’m gonna be quite busy this A.M. which doesn’t fair well for my recent illness. It’s kicking my ass. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t get you some links for ya.

NBA free agents can finally sign with the teams they made non binding commitments too, kinda like College Football’s signing day. Because many teams don’t want to spend, there are still a lot of quality players out there who have no commitments, or decent offers that we know of yet…and don’t expect the market to get better for them. Last night the NBA announced the salary cap dropped $1 Million to $57.7 Million, and they fear that it’s not getting better next year where it is expected to drop to cap is estimated to drop to somewhere between $50.4 million and $53.6 million. That’s not good. Not good at all.

Speaking of 2010-11…LeBron didn’t talk about his future with Trevor Ariza…all the more reason to believe that no one will go there because they think he’s likely gone. Ariza’s agent is sticking to his story.

Other news: Mike Bibby resigned with the Hawks. Because no one else wanted him? More than likely…Plus Coach K will lead the US team for 4 more years.

And let the floodgates open…The Blue Jays have announced that they will listen to offers for Roy Halladay…If you’re the Rangers you have to jump on this, he’s the guy that wins that division for you. This will be the first of many big moves I think we’ll see around the trade deadline. In fact, the next big name might be Vernon Wells.

The New York Gimps announced…No Beltran or Reyes for quite some time.

Manny ejected!! He just needed a day off, hasn’t had one in awhile.

God Bless America…A court has ruled that people attending Yankee Stadiumare free to relieve themselves in the middle of the 7th inning. It took a Sawk fan to fix it!
@CarsonPalmer9 get me the fucking ball!!!Ocho Cinco says he will Tweet during games this fall…It’s like watching a guy pour gasoline on a fire, you know it isn’t going to end well.

Today and tommorrow those in Nashville will get a chance to pay their last respects to Steve McNair, the Titans have opened up their stadium to the public.

On your dollar, The Senate held their BCS hearings yesterday…Nothing eventful happened. I’ll get to this later.

Joe Sakic retires. Awesome career, my favorite thing about the guy is his name backwards can be “kick ass”.

Futbol? Oguchi Onyewu has signed with world futbol power AC Milan, the US defender was a star during the Confed Cup a few weeks ago.

Martin Truex, Jr. has signed with Michael Waltrip Racing for 2010.

LANE KIFFIN NEWS!!! Not much going on in the Kiffin household this week, but he let everyone on Twitter know…”Another great morning in Knoxville!!! Go Vols!!!”

Can’t wait to hear how great those morning will be come mid-October…
