Merry Independence Day!  I hope you are all enjoying the weekend and planning on doing something cool in celebration of today.  I’ve got a buddy down here that says he can get me and the invading visiting family into Sawgrass for their festivities today and fireworks show tonight. 

Who’s planning on blowing some stuff up setting some fireworks off tonight?  I used to be big into firecrackers and would take the black cats apart and dump the powder into an old film canister until it was full, pull the cannon fuse off of an M80 and poke it through the lid, light it and RUN.  Since you can’t get the real M80’s or real cherry bombs anymore, that was the best substitute.  (blah, blah, blah…miz is a redneck)

NASCAR:

The Sprint Cup Series is headed to the hallowed grounds of Daytona for some Red, White, and Blue racing action, to be seen on TNT.  The green flag is scheduled to wave at 8:19 pm ET (I think).  For the second straight race and the third time in the past 5 races, rain canceled qualifying so the starting grid is based on the season’s points standings:

As many families will be breaking out the wiffleball bats and knocking the dust off of the wiffleballs, all 30 teams will be in action today:
