The Morning After: June 30, 2009

By sparty

The Morning AfterThe 2009 version of the month of June comes to a close today. We are officially halfway through the year, and now is the time that we all say: “Crap! I still haven’t _________.” That’s right people, you are running out of time to complete those tasks that you promised yourself that you would do this year. Truthfully, you only have 2 more months to get it done, because if you are like me you become completely useless during football season.

So what happened this month?

June 1st: Air France disappears over the Atlantic Ocean. Women who misses flight, dies in car accident following week. Life imitating art: Final Destination.
June 8th: Two American journalists are found guilty of illegally entering North Korea and sentenced to 12 years of penal labor. huhuhuhuh, hey Beavis, he said penis er something)
June 10th: Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi arrives in Rome on his first visit to Italy June 12th: The Pittsburgh Penguins defeat the Detroit Red Wings in game seven to win the 2009 Stanley Cup Finals.
June 14th: The Los Angeles Lakers defeat the Orlando Magic four games to one to win the 2009 NBA Finals. Lakers coach Phil Jackson wins his tenth NBA Championship, becoming the all time leader.
June 15th: Iran - Presidential candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi calls for the presidential election results to be annulled. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei orders an inquiry into claims of electoral fraud.
Thousands of protestors gather in Tehran in support of Mir Hossein Mousavi, defying a government ban on protests.
At least one person is killed and many wounded during clashes between police and protesters in Tehran.
Barry O is too busy worrying about how he can pull the wool over the people's eyes in regards to socialized healthcare.
June 28th: Billy Mays completes a week of celebrity deaths.

Yao may be done playing basketball. The big feller hasn’t been able to stay healthy the last few years, and now it looks like it finally caught up with him.

Never too early to start taking a look at the draft class for next year. As much of a homer as I am when it comes to Michigan State, I would probably put Collins ahead of him as of right now.

The Magic are interested in Rasheed Wallace. Why don’t the Magic and Pistons just workout another sign-n-trade like they have done in the past? The magic have always won out on those deals.

Boston has their own wish list and that includes Sheed as well.

Michael Curry was supposed to be the guy that could finally communicate with the players, now he has to fix things with Hamilton. My guess is that Rip won’t be around anyway.

Mark DeRosa was recently traded for a pitching rubber, is Cy Young winner Cliff Lee next?

Mike Lowell looks to be headed to the DL. Probably means Youk is headed to 3rd and a move for a 1b should be right around the corner.

Cubs fans are stupid. Paraphrased from what Ozzie Guillen said.

Shea stadium sucked. Paraphrased from what Derek Jeter said.

No kidding? The Bears don’t have enough to trade for Brandon Marshall. You mean they didn’t give the Broncos everything already when they go Jay Cutler?

The Fridge is poor and can’t pay his medical bills. If you want to help out, you can. But don’t worry, one day you won’t have the personal freedom to choose.

The Yanks are accepting complaints about the stadium. How bout this one. TICKETS ARE TOO FRIGGIN EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!!!
