The Morning After: June 27, 2009

By sparty

The Morning AfterWe are a little less than a month away from training camp in the NFL.  This here blogger intends to make another trip up to Albany this year to witness to New York Football Giants prepare to defend their divison crown, and move forward to another Super Bowl.  Until then, I have honey-do lists to complete, books to read, and other little things to get done on the weekends until football consumes my life.  And it really does once September rolls around with both the NFL and college.  I am rushing to get things done in the AM on Saturdays, so that I can sit down and watch the first set of Big 1o games that come on at noon.  My wife normally works on the Saturdays, and she will come home and see me on the couch and just know that my attention is lost until at least dinner time.  I am getting excited, I need to stop.

Albert Haynesworth says that the Tampa Bay Bucs offered him more money, but he wanted to go play in a real division.

We are not done hearing about TO and Dallas.  Maybe once the season arises and he makes Trent Edwards feel like crap for throwing to Lee Evans more than him that we will hear about him with his new team.

Devin Hester is still considered WR1 in Chicago, despite rumors that they may go after Plax if he is allowed to play this year. On another note: I was watching Top 10 on the NFL Network, and they counted down the top returners of all time.  They listed Hester as #1.  I have a problem with that, since he lost his job returning after 3 seasons. Granted, his 2 seasons were great, but ahead of Deion Sanders? Whatever.  It was a poorly made list. Yeah Brian Mitchell did it his whole career, but he had so many kick returns because he played on so many crap teams, he shouldn’t have been #2.  Sanders was 3rd and Gayle Sayers was 6. 6!!!

Boooo, San Diego. That would have been the coolest football stadium ever.

A great interview from Sports Crackle Pop with Bill Reynolds; author of ‘78 The Boston Red Sox, a Historic Game, and a City Divided.

Rumors and Rants will keep you up-to-date on all the Ricky Rubio to NY ongoings.  He thinks he is Eli Manning, but he isn’t nearly as good.  Don’t do it Knicks, the kid sucks.  On second thought, anyway to keep another team behind the Pistons is okay with me.

Everyone is starting to agree that the Spurs have fleeced everyone this past week, including Celtic lover, Josh Q Public.

Joe Jurevicius is suing the Browns for his Staph infection.

How does Fox think that the overexposed tandem of McCarver and Buck is a good idea to host a movie fest?

Zach Randolph is a cancer, no need to trade for his possible 20ppg and 10 boards.  CANCER.

Okay with the Pistons going after Odom, but friggin Ariza? Are you kidding me?

Go enjoy the weekend if you can. Beautiful weather in the Northeast.  Don’t know about the rest of  you, except you Florida suckers.  Enjoy the heat, the rain, the heat, the rain, the heat, the rain…
