There is actually a sense of direction at Michigan State University. There is hope in the air that there will actually be a real football program in East Lansing. Just like back in the 50s and 60s, when Duffy Daugherty led them to national prominence. The past couple football seasons were successes. MSU had reached bowl games both years, including a New Years Day bowl this past year. Granted, they lost both games, but when one looks back on the John L Smith era, ya just can’t complain.
MSU last week landed the top recruit in the state of Michigan, something they haven’t done since Charles Rogers committed several years ago. DE William Gholstan chose MSU over USC, Ohio State, Michigan, Oklahoma, Florida, Alabama, and Lane Kiffin’s dirty money. This was good news indeed. Dantonio has quickly made a strong impact within the state when it comes to recruiting. The best news of all is that Dantonio is not going anywhere, at least that is what he is saying. MSU has needed stability for years, and coach Dantonio looks to be that guy.
Time for some linkage…
Colt McCoy is busy trying to make sure you know that he is Heisman material.
I’m Nick Saban, and I am a 39-year-old liar. Who else has better qualifications to call out the recruiting mags.
Your next system QB at Texas Tech: Taylor Potts.
If there is a story that includes the name “Neil Lomax,” you better believe we are linking it.
Tom Crean, we agree.
The NBA Draft is only a couple days a way. What players will bring value? Whover score Sam Young late in the first round is getting a stud.
The Mavs are wanting to make a deal for Boozer or Brand.
The Cavs want to add Gortat to their lineup. So how many veterans are heading to Cleveland now to play just one season with LeBron?
Here are a few other rumors in the NBA. If the Pistons give up waste of space Amir Johnson and their 15th pick, who the hell is playing besides Rip, Stucky and Prince?
Dwight Howard is going to be in a movie. No, it isn’t a Superman remake.
I know what you are thinking. The Yankees are already cartoons.
This is why I can’t wait to start coaching my son. You just never know.
Anyone need a Rocky 3 USB drive?
Since everyone has embedded the video, why not us?

Celtics shop Rondo, Allen
Interesting, but I don’t think I’d do that.

that deal makes no sense for either team.

I can’t buy that rumor…but if true
Geez, the Celtics are desparate. I know they only have another 1-2 years with the core…

It does for the rest of the Eastern Conference.

I don’t think they’re desparate. I think Ainge is just seeing if he can get anything interesting for Allen’s expiring contract. I don’t get why he’s putting Rondo out there, unless he doesn’t want to give him something close to max money on his next contract.

Ya, but expiring deals are more accomodating at the deadline. Truthfully, I don’t think they’re that desparate, but they do know that at the current rate they need to make some moves now before it’s too late.
They’ve got Pierce and Garnett for two more years (Pierce doesn’t opt out of that deal) and Rondo is gonna cost them 10 mil a year easily if he keeps it up.

Dantonio did a good job landing Gholston. He also has MSU winning games they actually should win which isn’t anything that an MSU coach has done in a long time. Now if he could get his team competitive against better teams.
Also that Pistons trade rumor is retarded.

Geoff, Rich Rod has been a benefit to MSU. I think Michigan will be back in another year. Their recruiting philosophy has changed. he recruits more on a national level, instead of just Michigan and Ohio like Carr. This has allowed Dantonio to pluck recruits from the upper midwest that MSU was unable to grab before.

As for the Slumping hitters link, how can you not think that it is the effect of dejuicing? If a guy is hopped up on the HGH and roids and then goes cold turkey, how long does it take until it affects him? Also does getting off the stuff drop them lower than their natural level?
Manny Ramirez got caught taking a drug that countered the effects of steroids that include larger breasts and a smaller penis. That doesn’t sound performance enhancing to me.

Pretty much knew the Gholston sweepstakes was over a few weeks ago when:

Yeah, I am not too worried about RichRods recruiting. I would prefer if he didn’t load up quite on so many 5′9″ slot receivers but otherwise he still gets a lot of highly touted guys, even in the wake of the 3-9 season. He got the best 2010 QB recruit in the state of Michigan while having 2 other highly rated QBs on the roster (Tate Forcier and Denard Robinson), so I know he can still work in state. But yeah, his national recruiting is going to allow MSU to pluck away some of the guys that previously wouldn’t have considered MSU.
I think it is kind of a win all around because it sucks when your in-state rival is terrible (although I know that sentiment isn’t shared by MSU fans).

Hmmm, my last post didn’t go through. I apologize if suddenly a great wall of text appears like 3 times.

As an Arizona Cardinals fan, I always liked Neil Lomax a lot. He and Roy Green were pretty much the only fun thing to watch on a crappy team. It’s too bad his career was cut short because of the degenerative hip condition.
