Seventh Inning Stretch: Your Viewing Pleasure?

By mikeychx

Tonight’s 7th Inning Stretch brought to you by sae and Flaming Moe

So, DirecTV gave us a free weekend preview of all of their stations and I got very little use out of it. There weren’t many movies worth watching and the weather is too nice, when it’s not raining, to sit inside watching anyway. Not a very good way to sell people on upgrading. And anytime we get a movie channel preview, Enemy of the State is showing. Must be cheap to show or something.

So anywho, if they ever actually go a la carte with the cable/satellite service, what channels would be required in your personalized package?

I’m thinking I would need: USA (Burn Notice); TNT and the Food Network (The Closer and other shows for my wife); Cartoon, Boomerang, and Noggin (for the boys); Spike and FX (for the occasional movie); and the locals which are generally included anyway. And if they’d split up that stupid sports package, I’d get just Fox Sports Wisconsin. And I honestly think I could live without ESPN, especially for what they charge (it’s at least $3 of your monthly bill). I’m not that religious about MNF, and very rarely tune in for their MLB or NBA coverage. I could even do without USA and TNT, because I usually miss my shows and download them later anyway.

Tonight in sports and on the tube…

MLB

Twice as many games as I had last week!
7:10
Cardinals (Wellemeyer) @ Mets (Redding) espn2
Cubs (Dempster) @ Braves (Vasquez)
10:05
Rockies (Cook) @ Angels (Palmer)
Giants (Sanchez) @ Athletics (Cahill)

Elsewhere

8:00
espn – College World Series Game 1: LSU vs Texas
FX – Night at the Museum
AMC – The Bone Collector
Boomerang – Scooby Doo meets Jeannie
HBO Family West – National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
Encore West – Weird Science
9:00
Comedy Central – Futurama: Bender’s Game
HBO2 – Predator
10:00
Encore – Animal House

Father’s Day, our Anniversary (11th), and my wife’s parents’ anniversary (40th) all in one day yesterday. You could throw my cousin’s 1st anniversary (but he lives 200 miles away) and the first day of summer in there too. That’s a lot packed into one Sunday. Although, it was a nice distraction from my Brewers getting swept by the Tiggers.

Hope all you dads got some cute gifts from the young’ns.

Man, there is absolutely nothing on television tonight. No Twins, and no other programming I’m at all interested in. Maybe I’ll just watch Mean Girls on dvd for the hundredth time, is that ghey?  (Quote)

You’re telling me. Over 90 degrees here today. I went on a walk this morning at 6 a.m. and the humidity was so high I could barely breathe.  (Quote)

That chick looks familiar. I’d put a hole in her one. I would go with TNT, ESPN, Travel, GSN, History International, Discovery, Food Network, all the other sports networks, Boomerang. That would do it I think.  (Quote)

since we are just talking cable channels….

ESPN, Discovery, Science Channel, all History, MLB Net, NFL Net, NHL Net, NBATV, HDNet, HDMovie, Turner Classic Movies, Travel, Food. Fox News, less Hannity.  (Quote)

luckily we haven’t been hit with that, yet. I wish it was warmer in the morning. cool mornings make for a difficult warmup while running.  (Quote)

I think I’d like 90 and humid right now. I’ve seen so much freakin rain this June, I’m starting to wonder if I should be building an ark.  (Quote)

I knew I’d miss Las Vegas, just didn’t think I’d miss it so soon. It’s 95 there today and dry as hell. In Omaha: 100 today, 102 tomorrow on my way out. And 80%+ humidity.

Don’t worry John – I’m bringing the summer weather East with me late this week. Approximately where do you live anyway?  (Quote)

I’m in Maine approximately… and I’ll accept your summer weather, but please leave the tornados behind.  (Quote)

speaking of tornadoes…sweet shot in your earlier post, BigD. in addition to my desire to be struck by lightning without getting hurt, I hope to see a tornado from a close, but far enough away distance.  (Quote)

I’ve never seen a tornado even though Indiana is part of tornado alley. Something about the three rivers converging in Fort Wayne seems to keep them away.  (Quote)

Being impaled by a fence post going 200 miles per hour would be a good way to die. Not as good as being sucked into a black hole, but still good.  (Quote)

It was your typical dumbass move. Dayton’s alarms went crazy, the TV went into EBS, and I sent my wife and the dog into the basement.

Wow. I wasn’t around for the season ticket post today. As everybody knows, the Washington Redskins have the longest list by miles. It’s somewhere in the neighborhood of 160,000.

This is all the more impressive since virtually all of the seats at FedEx are season tickets and FedEx is the biggest stadium in the NFL.  (Quote)

A handful of years back we had a tornado go over our neighborhood. Thankfully it didn’t touch down, but it did take out a tree in our front yard.  (Quote)
