Return of the Bad Boy?

By sparty

lambThe Pistons are known for not waiting on a head coach to get things done in Auburn Hills. Michael Curry coached the Pistons to a playoff appearance, but it was an early exit coupled with a losing record for the first time in 9 years.  Joe Dumars already has given him a vote of confidence,  but Curry better turn things around quickly because there is guy that is now available that Piston fans have speculated and clamored for the last few seasons.

Bill Laimbeer is expected to resign as the head coach of the WNBA’s Detroit Shock.  Laimbeer has been the head coach for the last 6 seasons, and delivered 3 titles.  Laimbeer has long expressed a desire to be coach in the NBA.

Obviously coaching in the WNBA is a different animal than the NBA, but don’t think that the Original Bad Boy will be intimidated by the real divas on the men’s circuit.  Laimbeer won’t put up with non-sense, and being a former player, all-star and champion; he should be able to communicate with no problem. Rest assure that Laimbeer would get more technical foul calls than any player on the court for the Pistons.

Laimbeer has been successful at just about everything he has done. A basketball player, a business owner, a coach, and was very entertaining and insightful as an analyst on ESPN prior to taking the Shocks coaching job (except when he was bragging on the Pistons).  Piston fans love him, and would welcome him back courtiside just as soon as Dumars pulls the trigger.

In terms of, I didn’t capitalize the B so I meant the bird he nailed with a pitch…if I could get to Youtube, it would’ve worked better.  (Quote)

If they are going to go with the Laimbeer experiment these next two years would be the time to do it. The team should be rebuilding and not really a contender for much other than an 8th seed. Let’s let him build a team rather than try and get a contender over the top when he has no NBA coaching experience.  (Quote)

I don’t like Curry. They wouldn’t be much worse. I think Laimbeer wouldn’t make comments about how he wouldn’t give into the vets and then do the opposite. that is exactly what Curry did.  (Quote)

I don’t like Curry either. I think he did an awful job last year. Just horrible. Might be fun to see Laimbeer roaming the sidelines, just still have bad memories of Alan Trammell being brought back to manage the Tigers.  (Quote)

I don’t think that coaching in the WNBA qualifies anybody to coach in the NBA. Women’s basketball in general is just so different from men’s that I’m not even sure the WNBA qualifies a person to coach NCAA men’s ball. That’s not to say that he couldn’t make the neccessary adjustments. He should be able to as he was once an NBA player and all. I just think that he should he coaching lower level men’s ball before the NBA. Remember, the WNBA is roughly the equivalent of really good 10th grade guys.

On the other hand, he has way more coaching experience than Vinny Del Negro and he got a job. On the other hand, I have more coaching experience than Vinny Del Negro did before last year, so maybe I’m qualified to coach in the NBA.  (Quote)

Subway was good when they were pretty much the only sub chain, but now that there are a lot, Subway kinda sucks. I like Quizno’s myself.  (Quote)

Subway got much better once they started toasting their subs. Got the Feast last night, that was real good.

Quiznos is good but way too expensive, they lost me because of their prices, although I have heard they have gone down. Also, I don’t trust a place where employees have sex with the oven.

that is an excellent question rekcalsa. guyinthecorner uses the phrase “on the other hand” way to often. now, where i come from, ppl have 2 hands. so, guyinthecorner, do you perhaps have three, maybe four hands. do you come from a place where ppl don’t have the normal amount of hands that the rest of the world does? i am quite curious  (Quote)
