The Yankees have lost 8 straight games to the Boston Red Sox this season. I know there is a ton of baseball left. I well aware that even though they have been atrocious against the Sox, the Yankees are only 2 games back in the AL. However, THEY HAVE STILL LOST 8 FRIGGIN GAMES IN A ROW TO THE SOX!!!
This is not okay. There is nothing okay about it. They have lost in every perceivable way to the Red Sox. They have been shutout, they have blown 6 run leads, they have blown late leads, the have been blown-out. Almost anyway one can lose a baseball game this season has happened for the Yankees against the Red Sox. It is down right embarrassing that they haven’t recorded a W against them. Especially when you look how much better the Yanks have been against the rest of the AL.
One doesn’t need to hit the panic button on the season, but if the Yanks plan on making the postseason, and then eventually winning in it, they better find a way to beat the Sox.
There is one huge overreaction that is already happening after last nights loss.
I am already hearing whispers from Yankee fans about how Joba as the setup man would have been the difference in last nights game. He would have prevented an 8th inning rally by the Sox. That Girardi wouldn’t have trotted out Sabathia. That is the easy way of looking at it.
How bout knocking in some damn runs. The Yankees were 2/15 with runners in scoring position last night. They had plenty of opportunites against Brad Penny and they didn’t capitalize on them.
Did anyone stop to think about Nick Swisher and his stupid base running error? How do you get doubled-up on a pop fly?
Oh, if Joba was the set-up man, who would be pitching today? Kei Igawa? The Yanks are having a hard enough time finding someone to fill the 5th spot in the rotation, so if you put Joba in the pen, now you have 2 spots open. Real friggin smart.
Once again, the Yankees are only 2 games back from the Sox. Prior to this series, they were one of the hotter teams in baseball. The 8th inning wasn’t even a question mark. One bad 8th inning and now suddenly that issue has to be brought up again? Everyone who keeps bringing that up is incredibly short-sighted and foolish. These are the same people who would vote a closer for Cy Young. You need to have effective bullpen to win in October, but you need better than okay starting pitching as well. Guess who the Yankees second best starter has been this season? Joba Chamberlain. Who has been the Yankees best starter since last season? Joba Chamberlain.
It is time that the rest of the Yankees get their heads out of their asses when they play the Red Sox again. No dropping fly balls, no baseruning mistakes, and stop leaving ducks on the pond. Earn your damn money, bitches.

I’d trade Jeter.

Leave Joba and Phil in the rotation, dump Wang and trade for bullpen help. Problem solved.
(Quote)
i think Wang could be really effective in the pen. BP pitchers usually only use 2 pitches.

Eh, Yankees and Red Sox both suck. Go Dodgers!
(Quote)
I agree with FT, the Dodgers are the best team and Torre is the best manager. Dodgers >>> Yankees and Red Sox.

Wang doesn’t seem like he’d be ok going to the bullpen for the rest of the season. If he was, you think the Yankees would have made that move already.
(Quote)
they keep telling themselves that he won more games in the AL than anyone else prior to his injury. he was good for 7-8 innings a night.

Falcon’s to release Vick today. I thought he was already released.

Carl Pavano still has one more win than C.C. One more loss also, BUT one more win as well.

Pierce > Pavano, C.C. and Arod combined.

It could be worse Sparty. Your team could have the worst away record in all of baseball.

The Yanks should offer $140 mil to Manchester United for the rights to Christiano Ronaldo for no other reason than they can. Fans will be glad to see money is being spent and will be pacified. Plus Ronaldo doesn’t seem to juice.

The only fans that think Joba should pitch the 8th worship Mr Diet Coke himself. Put Joba in the 8th and aside from CC we are losing our only other reliable starter.
(Quote)
It’s apropos that you chose “BP” for bullpen here, since Wang’s pretty much been throwing BP all season long.
(Quote)
i wonder if i am the only one that gets that.
(Quote)
man, can’t wait until august when the sox can get some easy wins again…when they play the yanks again
(Quote)
That has nothing to do with the Yanks overpaying for players and C.C. not being the big numero uno.
(Quote)
cc hasn’t been the problem
(Quote)
I can only assume it’s a reference to Phil Coke?
(Quote)
nope. Mike Francesa.
(Quote)
Hasn’t really been the solution either.

Thanks for the help, John. Sparty is getting persnickety today.

I noticed that too Jen, must be Game 7 nerves.
(Quote)
sure he has. his starts have been huge this year. not having to send the bullpen out after 5 innings every game has done wonders.

Chiming in late but I agree with Sparty, Joba stays in the rotation. The 0-8 against the Red Sox is a new thing for me. I am not handling it well. Luckily (or unluckily) I have a lot more on my mind to worry about that actually affects me but 0-8?
Girardi still has guys in the bullpen to go to and he should have yanked CC a couple of batters earlier. I couldn’t believe he was leaving him in the game while watching. Nothing to do with whether Joba was in the pen or not. Take your chance with Acevas or Coke but he just couldn’t leave CC in their to die.

Wait… NY and Boston have baseball teams? No one told me.
