Game 7: Key #1 for a Red Wings Victory

By sparty

Marian Hossa

hossa

Remember why you came to the Red Wings for less money? To win a championship. To WIN a championship.  It is time for you to partake in the actual winning.  Yeah, you had a screwy goal in Game 1 of the series from behind the net, but you have been non-existent in this series.  I hope your intentions weren’t to ride the coatails of the Red Wings to a Stanley Cup title.  If you don’t mind, when you deliver a check, try not to be the one that falls down.

Since I can’t watch this game, I’m rooting for a blowout, either Wings or Penguins, doesn’t matter to me.  (Quote)

why can’t you watch the game? didn’t get a converter?  (Quote)

Because its a Friday night and I have a wedding rehearsal dinner, hence my bitching in the 7th Inning Stretch Yesterday.  (Quote)

Yes, but most casual fans are probably in my shoes. Go out on a Friday night or stay in and watch the NHL?

The last time I remember a Game 7 being on a Friday night is when the Wings spanked the Avalanche 7-0.  (Quote)

how is friday night different than saturday night? what do you propose?  (Quote)

key #1 for the victory is to score more goals than the other team

I propose not being a niche league and being at the whim of NBC and a reality show and actually being able to control the scheduling of your Finals, so you don’t get forced having back to back games, or get in a position where your Finals are on a night no one watches TV. I think most businesses would want as many eyeballs on their product at its peak as possible but what do I know, its obvious the NHL knows what they are doing.

  • cbh49er says:

People bitch about the NBA Finals scheduling, but there is a reason they don’t schedule any Finals games for Friday or Saturday, because more people will be watching on Sunday night. This isn’t that hard to comprehend.  (Quote)

  • sparty says:

then you bitch if they hold off to sunday that there is too long a layoff.  (Quote)

  • sparty says:

i don’t get the thought that more people watch sunday night than they would on saturday/friday night. you may not get as many households, but people are more likely to go to the bar on fri/sat night and watch a game than you would get on a sunday night. in fact, for hockey it is better, because nobody wants to be up to 1 am watching a sudden death OT that have to go to work in the next day.  (Quote)

  • cbh49er says:

Actually I wouldn’t, and you keep looking at it from the standpoint of how they schedule the Finals on a whim. I am saying schedule your Finals ahead of time, the NBA already knows their Finals schedule for next year.

and that is what frustrates people about the NBA. that they plan ahead and leave no wiggle room for changes. but keep saying “I.”  (Quote)

Sorry about the I, guess I don’t feel like surveying multiple people so I can say we.

they are always going to go up against the NBA Finals. if they schedule it ahead of time, they are going to end up on head-to-head at night. then you say they are stupid for doing that.  (Quote)

You’re not the demographic. No sporting league is catering to the 18-25 year-old demographic that would rather go out than watch the sporting event in question.

Does you argument also apply to the MLB?  (Quote)

I am legitimately excited for this game, and I don’t know shit about hockey. Of course my wife will shit her pants if I ask to watch it, so it’ll be bar hoping instead. Not being a hockey fan, per se, I would like to see Pittsburgh win the Cup. It seems like Detroit always wins it.  (Quote)

Having the game on Friday night is perfectly fine. Going head to head with the NBA finals is not. Argument solved.  (Quote)

I’m always in the minority on here, no surprise.
