Red Sox 6 Yankees 5 – Seriously, win a friggin game against these guys. This is deplorable. Not team is owned right now like the Yankees. There is no way anyone can be hiding from this truth. Let the “Red Sox are in their head,” articles roll in.
Royals 9 Indians 0 – I hate you Carl Pavano. I gave you chance. I have been hearing about a rebirth of you in Cleveland. Then you screw my fantasy team. Up your nose with a rubber hose. Gil Meche was nails, throwing a 4-hitter through 7 while fanning 11.
Phillies 5 Mets 4 – The Mets are still playing with their B team at this time, and were not able to hold off a Phillies rally. Chase Utley hit his second HR of the night in the 11th to help carry the Phils to victory. David Wright is still horrible at home.
Tigers 2 White Sox 1 - What do you get when you mix the White Sox offense with Justin Verlander on the mound? Futility on offense. Ozzie may kill himself by the All-Star break. Verlander was filthy in a complete game with 9ks. Doesn’t Verlander’s mustache make him look like someone that could have pitched on the 1984 World Series Team?
Astros 2 Cubs 1- The most underachieving team in all of a baseball is officially the Chicago Cubs. Milton Bradley was a brilliant signing. Add a 1 in the GWRBI column on Geoff Blum’s 2010 baseball card.
Reds 4 Nationals 2- You know who has a a really good team that nobody is talking about? Cincy. The Reds are 1.5 games out of first place in the NL Central. They could be creating some late season noise if they can find someone to add to their rotation. The Nats still suck. Told ya.
Cardinals 13 Marlins 4- 13 runs scored by the Cards and zero HRs from Pujols. It is an anomaly .
Hitting Studs
1. Alberto Callaspo, Royals – 4-4, 1 HR, 2 Runs, 4 RBIs
2. Jose Lopez, Mariners – 3-4, 2 HRs, 2 Runs, 3 RBIs
3. Chase Utley, Phillies, – 3-5, 2 HRs, 2 Runs, 2 RBIs
Pitching Studs
1. Justin Verlander, Tigers, 9IP, 6 Hits, 1 BB, 1 Runs, 9Ks
2. Gil Meche, Royals – 7IP, 4 Hits, 3 BB, 0 Runs, 11ks
3. Aaron Harang, Reds – 7.2 IP, 5 Hits, 3 BB, 0 Runs, 2Ks

No Texeira on studs. Granted Yankees lost but 4/5 with a Single, 2 doubles and a HR.
Was just talking with a guy here at work. At this point, Wang needs to go to the pen until he proves that he can start again and Hughes goes back in the rotation.
The weird thing is that against the rest of the league, Yanks have been much better which is why they are only 1 game back despite being 0-7 against the Red Sox. I am not sure I like this new Millenium. I liked the old one where the Yanks owned the Red Sox.

Yeah, well, up your gizzard with a rubber lizard.

I thought the Nats and Indians were relegated to AAA. I learn something new every day.
(Quote)
That’s because the rest of the AL is mediocre.

yet, the sawx are a few games worse than the yankees against the rest of the league

Don’t twist this around sae. We need to stay focused on how the Red Sox are better than the Yankees.

my bad, carry on

cycledan, Teixeira did have a great night, just not as good as the others.

For some reason Facebook just recommended I add Dan Shanoff as a friend. Not sure what to make of this.
Also, Verlander is the best pitcher in baseball right now.
(Quote)
hmmmm, definitely pitching pretty damn good right now…Roy Halladay and Johan Santana would still be my picks to head my rotation.

Beckett?
/homer’d (but not really)

Beckett is on a friggin hot streak right now. should be on the DL within 3 weeks.
(Quote)
I meant *right now* literally. I guess I have to look at stats but I doubt anyone has been better in their last 8 starts.
(Quote)
Geoff, probably right. Beckett has been lights out his last several starts as well.
(Quote)
Over the last month you can make an argument for either Verlander, Halladay or Beckett and not really be wrong with who you go with.

Rek – What’s the ad blocking script you use?

I am just excited to have, what looks like, a dominant pitcher in Detroit. Verlander has shown flashes the last couple of years but otherwise it has been a while since Detroit has had a real legit ace.

Geoff–I’m trying to compile the last 8 start stats for a couple pitchers, but work’s getting in the way.

Here’s the stats for Haren, Halladay, and Verlander…Verlander looks to be the best out of the 3 for the past 8 starts.
Haren: 59 IP, 43 H, 18 R, 18 ER, 9 HR, 6 BB, 57 K, 852 PIT, 2.75 ERA, 0.83 WHIP
Halladay: 64 IP, 55 H, 15 R, 13 ER, 2 HR, 8 BB, 56 K, 867 PIT, 1.83 ERA, 0.98 WHIP
Verlander: 58.1 IP, 36 H, 8 R, 8 ER, 2 HR, 16 BB, 72 K, 922 PIT, 1.24 ERA, 0.90 WHIP

Them are some impressive stats. Walks are a little high compared to Halladay and Haren but they haven’t caused him too much trouble with all those Ks. Thanks for the work.
(Quote)
Impressive stats all, but it’s interesting that at least 50% of Haren’s earned runs have come from the long ball. I guess when he misses, he misses in the wheelhouse.
(Quote)
I find it funny that he’s pitched only a bit less in innings but has a much higher pitch count…and he’s been able to limit the hits but he should bring down the BBs a bit (not that it’s a ridiculously high number of BBs though).

burnett misses a lot in the wheelhouse.
