The Morning After: May 26, 2009

By mikeychx

The Morning AfterSo all of the advances made by my doing P90x were all undone this weekend as I ate steak and shrimp and lobster on Friday, chicken kabobs and rice on Saturday, steak and fish on Sunday, and filet mignon  bites, bratwursts, and Angus beef burgers on Monday. I washed all of this down with about 24 Coors Lights, 18 Heinekens, and a glass or two of wine. I didn’t really undo all the progress, but it seemed like it. Actually since beginning my healthier living journey in mid February when I was at 209, I still am keeping it around 190 (-19 lbs) and I have lost about 2 inches off of my mid section. Now it just seems like I am getting leaner and not losing weight really, which is fine by me. Seriously though, P90x is a hard program…not in the sense that the workouts kill you (because they do) its a hard program because to carve out an hour a day when you run your own company, blog, have two kids under the age of five, a wife that isn’t really so supportive about doing “that stupid exercise crap”…well lets just say that I should be starting week four or day 22, and I  feel compelled to do week two and a half again…so whereas this should be week four, I will re do week three. I get the feeling by the time I actually finish the 90 days, I will be somewhere around 120 days.

Have you been around the last couple of days…or last three I guess? If not here are the bonus links for what happened on Saturday’s TMA…..Sunday’s TMA, and Yesterday’s TMA. You probably missed some good shit so check it out.

We have been accepted as part of the YardBarker Network so you may see some of our fancy posts on other YBN blogs….while it doesn’t make us famous…it is kinda cool I suppose.

I know that Sparty will cover Hit and Run in a bit, but he won’t be able to include David Ortiz on the list as he sat yesterday rather than being mooved down in the batting order. I gota say though, if you were to tell me that you would take out Big Papi and Manny out of the Sawx lineup and they would still be leading the AL East and you bet me say $100….well I would be $100 poorer.

The Lakers were thoroughly dominated by the Nugs last night to go 2-2. How bad was it? Here are some stats for you…

  • Nugs win 120 -101 (19 points)
  • Nugs Rebounds 58 -Lakers 40 (+18)
  • Nugs 49 FTA -  Lakers 35 FTA (+14)
  • Nugs 20 ORB – Lakers 9 ORB (+11)

Hate to say this…but just how is the NBA gonna make sure that we still get Kobe v. LeBron? Or should I just ask if I should put $100k down on the Cavs to win tonight because we all know that the Cavs are absolutely gonna win?

Davis Reutimann won a 600 340 mile race in  Concord NC…shortened due to rain.

Today is the day we get the votes up for top 100 NBA players…even though only the top 10 matter…we are attempting to go deeper….anyone on this list not belong….any need to be added? These are NOT in numerical order. Get it done in the comments

    Lacrosse.

Now I know nothing about the game but my undergrad school, Cornell, played my grad schools, Syracuse, for the national championship. I have to go for my undergrad school naturally. I have a good friend who goes to a lot of Syracuse games with me. However this time we were at odds.

I said that if Cornell wins, he paints his house red and if Syracuse wins, I paint my house orange but we figure we can’t bet that since our wives control such things. I seriously tried to bet that we have to paint our sheds in the other teams’s color since I figure us guys own the sheds but he has a new shed and wouldn’t go for it.

So now I have to take him and his wife out for a nice dinner. I guess I will take my wife along as well since she expects to come along and doesn’t seem too upset that we are paying for it.

And the game? Yes, Cornell was up 9-6 with a few minutes to go. Well with 4 seconds to go, Syracuse tied the game and won 10-9 in OT.
