The Morning After: Memorial Day 2009

By mikeychx

tma-2Is anyone gonna bother checking in today? I won’t be offended if you don’t. It is Monday and normally one of the busiest days of the week here at Sparty and Friends….but today is Memorial Day and should be spent accordingly. In thought about those who sacrificed so that we may live the way we do? Maybe. In food, eating BBQ and drinking a lot of beer? Possibly. At the beach soaking up sun on the first unofficial day of summer? Hmmm. Golf? A combination of all of the above would be my preference. But before I get to do any – I gotta get you the links you so richly deserve.

This will probably be the only post of the day…Since this is a three day weekend, Monday = Weekend.

Is a Kobe v. Lebron Finals in jeopardy? The Magic playing D? In my mind the Cavs – Magic  series should be 3-0. Since it is 2-1, does anyone see LBJ getting three out of the next four? Me either. The Cavs have a nightmare match up in the Magic….and it looks like D Ho will be the next young star to get his ass handed to him by the West.

Professional- Unbiased news Reporting at it’s finest in this video clip….

Helio Castroneves won the Indy 500…it just seems like yesterday when his career was going to be over because of tax evasion charges that were looming he won Dancing with the Stars. Danica finished a career best 3rd.

Jeremey Shockey was taken to the hospital after leaving Rehab? Turns out Rehab is a club at the Hard Rock Cafe in Vegas…and Shockey was dehydrated….I wonder what the cause was?

Didn’t Randy Moss just hit a cop with his car a few years ago….Deja vu with Miami’s Randy Starks and his Freightliner truck that he used to pin a South Beach cop up against another car with.

The Cubs have lost six straight…I know you guys want to give me shit about it too…this guy gives you all of the stats to help back up what ever point you will try to hammer home to me.

Just how good are the Red Wings? No Lindstrom and no Pavel equals no problem…Wings 6-1 over the Blackhawks to go up 3-1. Pens v. Wings? Who do you give the early nod to?

Just another reason I wish I lived back east…I would be “visiting my parents” this weekend in Florida to take advantage of this golf offer. Speaking of golf, Loudmouth Rory Sabbatini won the Byron Neslon Classic yesterday.

Yesterday’s baseball scores here …… Today’s baseball schedule here

They may or may not get to race them there stock cars over yonder in them Caroliners…Coca Cola 600 rained out yesterday…not looking good for today either.

Well…that does it for me. Not gonna pour out my soul in to a post that may go unread. Enjoy your day off. Be back tomorrow for all the latest in work diverting sports banter.

    Read the post Mikey.

I think the Magic would gave the West winner the same matchup nightmare. They smoked the Lakers this season, and split with Denver.

The Cavs fans are crying? No way! Lebron has the wind of someone’s hand near his face and they’re calling fouls. Our best player who could out 4 times all season(I believe) has fouled out twice! Eff them

I am so glad to be wrong about thinking the Magic had no shot in this series. Friday night I was at a sports bar watching the Wings game and afterwards every TV got switched to the Cavs/Magic game. The entire bar went crazy when Turkoglu made what appeared to be the game winning shot, and just fell silent after Lebron hit the winner.

In other words, we really hate Cleveland.

The refs were absolutely brutal last night, but they favored the Cavs more than the Magic. Nobody has anything to complain about – they were pretty horrible around.

Gotta tell y’all, this WWE RAW with McMahon vs. Denver has been very entertaining. But I am pretty surprised to see John Cena sporting the Lakers jersey. Would’ve thought he’d rip it off and show a Larry Bird throwback or a KG #5.

At least he could have made them give him #17.
