Dear Chauncey,

It has been almost 7 months since we last spent a night together.  7 long rough months.  There is not a moment that goes by that we don’t miss you, especially now, seeing you every other night with that other team.  Man, do you look great.   It is really true what they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Remember the great spring times we would have?  May was a great month for us.  You  would meticulously lead a grumpy group of players to the Eastern Conference Finals every year that you were with us.  The best was when you would completely take over the 4th quarter, and just send daggers into the hearts of other teams.  Like when you won the MVP of the NBA Finals when we rolled Shaq and Kobe.   Good times.  It was really enjoyable watching you and Rasheed run the pick n’ pop better than anyone in the league.  Teams would have to worry about leaving a mismatch on you, or giving that shot up to Sheed.  You were so good at that.  Man, how we wish that we could do that, just one more time.

Now you are gone, working the pick and roll with that Carmelo guy.  We see that you will still be playing in May, this time out West.   We admit it, we are jealous, and we were wrong.  We are sorry that we pushed you out the door. We are sorry we demanded something different in our life. We didn’t think it would cost us the best thing in our basketball life. We just never clicked with that other guy, we were seduced like a teenage girl by his bad boy lifestyle. The grass is always greener on the other side, until you get actually hop the fence.  Really, we’re happy for you, we just miss you and we are sorry for how we treated you.
