Book: A-Rod used Roids in High School

By sparty

1993alex-rodriguezNow that Alex Rodriguez is nearing his return to the baseball diamond, and the release date of Selena Roberts book is right around the corner, more details are trickling out as to what is being reported.

The NYDN has leaked out information from the book that A-Rod alledgedly used performance enhancing drugs while in high school.  The claim is apparently made by a former high school teammate of Rodriguez, who also stated that Alex’s coach was well aware of this.  A claim that is denied by the former coach.

Like the Joe Torre biography that was released a few months ago, it isn’t surprising that information contained within the book has been released shortly before its released.  I can totally buy into him using PEDs as a teen.  His entire life was defined as being an athlete in high school, and we already know how much Alex wants to be accepted by his peers and others that are around him.  From personal experience, I knew athletes within my own high school that were taking things to succeed, someone of them were the very best at their sport.  However, Alex may have gained like none other if it were to be true, as he was the number 1 pick in the amateur draft, and signed what was considered to be a very lucrative contract for an 18-year old.

Over the next couple of weeks, more should trickle out of what is contained within Ms. Roberts book, and it will bring more scruitiny to Alex Rodriguez.

I’ve moved on from the A-Roid stories. I’m more excited to read about the other stuff, like when he was tipping pitches to hitters on the opposing teams and how he was hated at Hooters, because he was such a cheap tipper.

This book was written merely to make money for Selena Roberts. Who knows what liberties were taken.

It’s just a novel form of the National Enquirer.

the tipping pitchers thing is interesting, but i can careless about how he is at Hooters, who he is dating, and what color mascara he is wearing. a ton of athletes/celebrities are shitty tippers.

Is it just me, or does it seem that Selena Roberts has an ax to grind with A-Rod?

maybe A-Rod shunned her for an interview and gave it to Lupica instead.

If he did tip pitches, how does his own team not realize this and not beat the crap out of him for doing it?

I hope this story dies relatively quickly.

If taking steroids gave Arod bitch tits, then Phil Mickelson must be shooting up like crazy.

I am willing to bet that at least half the baseball players out there have also used PEDs. We single out A-Rod because he was a 3 time MVP and considered the best player in baseball at least for a time. There are guys in the minors who doped away and may not have made the major leagues but we don’t have as much outrage since we feel that all of A-Rod’s success is due to drugs.

The way I see it, they nearly all used and if they didn’t, then they were dumb.

If I could take PEDs and earn $20M/year as an engineer, I would in a second and then retire in 5 or 10 years and stop taking the stuff. … and you all would too unless you are some kind of monks or nuns. Let’s stop being so holier than thou. The only reason for an athlete to not take PEDs is because they are worried about getting caught.

The guys in the Olympics got busted for using CERA which is a time release form of EPO to increase red blood cell count and endurance. Why did they take it? Because at the time, there was no test and they thought they couldn’t get caught. Same for Ben Johnson a few years back.
