Hit and Run: April 27, 2009

Since I am your esteemed host, we’ll call it “Hit and Fun” today…get it cause I’m more fun than Sparty. Burn!

He had a bad weekend, not only did his Pistons go out like a candle in a hurricane, but the Yanks were put to rest by the Saux in some bizarre situations. Therefore, knowing he didn’t have it in him to write about baseball today he came to me and asked nicely if I could cover…so I did.

I promise you one thing…Miz probably did this better than I will.

Red Sox 4 – Yankees 1:It’s early, but the Sawx used late heroics to beat the Yanks in all three games this weekend. Plus how can you hate on someone for stealing home? Ellsbury stole home! Pretty insane if you ask me. Now we can return to a world where there is more than one baseball game being played.

Cubs 10 – Cardinals 3:The other rivalry this weekend was closed out behind Fukudome’s big game. After a rough season, the Japanese sensation is picking up the slack for Derrek Lee, who is still struggling (for my fantasy team)

Nats 8 – Mets 1:Losing like this to the Nats is like kissing your sister…at least you’re scoring…right? RIGHT? Not if you’re the Mets.

Phillies 13 – Marlins 2: Someone please play that sound effect they play for the coyote when he falls off the cliff on Looney Toons…then put it to the bad highlights we’ve seen of the Marlins this week. The reigning champs will be ok.

The rest of your Sunday baseball action!

3. Kosuke Fukudome, Cubs, 3-4, 1 HR, 5 RBI, 2 R, 1 BB

2. Matt Cain, Giants, 7 IP, 4 H, 5 K , 1 ER
3. Armando Gallaraga, Tigers, 6 IP, 3 H , 7 K, 1 ER

I’ll show some restraint and just say that was about as entertaining an early season Red Sox/Yanks series as you will ever see.  (Quote)

Burnett let the ump get to him, and changed the way he was pitching when he didn’t get the calls he wanted. cost the yanks the game on saturday.  (Quote)

Anyone else notice the oversized lazy-boys that the ESPN guys were sitting in last night? Joe Morgan was slouching so slow in his chair, I have no idea how he could see the field.  (Quote)

Doesn’t that have the chance of making his commentary better?  (Quote)

Can we return to a world where less than 1 baseball game is being played? No? Fine I’ll wait for football season to start then.  (Quote)
