The Morning After: April 17, 2009

By sparty

The Morning AfterThe lack of rest has begun.  Now that the NHL playoffs are underway, with the NBA playoffs not far behind,  I will be up much later each night watching the high intensity affairs.  I abuse my body between now and the middle of June.  My wife thinks I need to seek therapy. She can’t see how any person would do this.

I tell myself just about every spring that I won’t do it again, but then I find myself laying in bed with the TV on, with my thumb on the “go back” button on the remote.  I can deal with missing a few minutes of basketball game, but anytime I miss a second or two of a hockey game, someone scores.  Hawkeye is nodding his head in agreement.

If the news of Kevin Garnett being out for the playoffs wasn’t bad enough for the Celtics, later that day Danny Ainge had a heart attack.  We have been unable to confirm that the stories are related.

Hallelujah!  Only a few more weeks of Screamin’ A Smith.

Who has the most to prove in the NBA playoffs?  Fairly or unfairly, it is Kobe and LeBron.

Dwight Howard likes to fart. Who knew?  Maybe he should include that into his game. Clear the lane big fella!

GITC John Hollinger’s PER Diem.

Speaking of GITC, will he come through with his promise of an NBA Playoff Preview today?  Until then, this should get you ready to place your bets.

Are the Suns done with Steve Nash.  Does any team out there need or want him?  Oh, he will distribute the ball and make some shots, but he also plays defense like Roger Dorn takes grounders.

It looked like ESPN was going to finally going to recognize the power of the blogger yesterday.  Then they failed.  Way to source a newspaper and your own damn blogger.  Come on, lets see some Sparty & Friends!

Ya think Bob Costas has been away from the game too long?

Never shake the hand of Brewer fan. Looking at you, sae.

Getting Miggy with it. I feel strange typing that.

I learned more about college baseball in this one post than I did in my whole life.

I cannot stand Sergio Garcia. I agree with Spencer, why do we even bother to care about what he says.

In case you think about ordering Dominos.

Thank you Mom and Dad for never paying the extra $4.00.

Seriously, we should try this. I would never need Miz to copy edit again.

What are you talking about Sparty? That $4 for a laser photo is the best investment evAr. Freaking lasers man! It’s photography from the future. I bet you that kid with the bowl cut still uses that picture on his Facebook page to this day.  (Quote)

I correctly picked John to say that this morning. I’m the most awesome.  (Quote)

I correctly picked that Detroit would win by more than Boston would in SFTC. That was a gimme though.  (Quote)

The obvious statement of the day goes to the Nash article:

Depending on which direction the Phoenix Suns decide to take, Nash either will remain a fixture in the Arizona desert or he’ll be playing elsewhere.

    And:

It looked like ESPN was going to finally going to recognize the power of the blogger yesterday. Then they failed.

    So did the link.  (Quote)

rek, I got the sj-ana pick right. Every game they played this year was 5 goals or less so I figured last night would be more of the same.  (Quote)

Damn…wish I would’ve known that kwsn…I was totally unsure and was thinking about not even picking that game since I had a 6 streak going. And from yesterday, I’m doing that Baseball Challenge thing, but not trying to hard.  (Quote)

Damn, graddawg is slowly picking away at my team on offense…maybe I should play a 2B/SS position…anyone got a good 2B/SS lying around to trade me?  (Quote)

I’m pretty unsure about all today’s picks. I’m going to wait and see qualifying results before I take Kyle Busch over Carl Edwards.  (Quote)

  • rekcalsa says:

I really like Span and he’s one of my few shots at getting some SBs…and I feel pretty confident he’ll hold up, unlike my confidence in Hill…I was actually considering trading Lester if I got a great offer.  (Quote)
