We here at Sparty and Friends love to get things wrong. Joe Lunardi is the resident Bracketologist at ESPN, and his claim to fame is that he gets them all right (on selection Sunday…).Well I don’t have the time to seed them and put them in brackets with the playing locations of the teams to be named, but I can give ya who is in and who is out.
The first part is fairly easy…
Your One School Conference Bids (23) :
America East – Vermont
Atlantic Sun – Jacksonville
Big Sky – Weber State
Big South- Radford
Big West – Cal State Northridge
Colonial – VCU
Conference USA – Memphis
Horizon- Butler
Ivy -Cornell
MAAC- Siena
MAC – Buffalo
MEAC – The POWERFUL Morgan State
Missouri Valley – Creighton
Northeast – Robert Morris
Ohio Valley – Tennessee-Martin
Patriot – American
Southern – Davidson
Southland – Stephen F. Austin
Southwestern – Alabama State
Summit – North Dakota State
Sun Belt – Western Kentucky
WCC- Gonzaga
WAC – Utah State
Here is where it gets tricky, there are a lot of good teams with good wins out there. And there is always some 13 loss team the selection committee throws in so people can bitch about it, but here’s how I see it finishing…
Your Multiple Bid Leagues (in order of finish):
A-10 (2) – Xavier, Dayton
ACC (7) – UNC, Clemson, Wake Forest, Duke, FSU, Boston College, Maryland
Big East (8) – UConn, Pitt, Villanova, Louisville, Marquette, Syracuse, West Virginia, Providence
Big 10 (8) – Michigan State, Illinois, Purdue, Ohio State, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Penn State, Michigan
Big 12 (6) – Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State
Mountain West (3) – Utah, BYU, San Diego State
Pac 10 (5) – UCLA, Washington, Arizona State, Arizona, Cal
SEC (3) -LSU, Tennessee, South Carolina
And just missing the cut:
USC, Rhode Island, Florida, Kentucky, UNLV, Miami, Temple, UAB, George Mason
And your 1 seeds:
UConn, UNC, Oklahoma, and Pitt
Out This Week:
Florida – Losing 5 of last 7 pulls the Gators out. Big game Sunday against Kentucky could be for the 4th SEC spot.
Virginia Tech – Way too many bad losses and not enough big wins. Need to beat FSU Saturday to have a real chance.
Bubble Burst:
Cincinnati – Losing to USF does them in.

Oklahoma will not be a 1 seed.

Yes they will.

ha! Kansas will beat them in the Big 12 tourney, Memphis will win Conf USA tourney, and claim the final #1.

Eight from the Big 10? I think one 0f the bottom teams will drop.

Big 10 will end up with 6, maybe 7.

Michigan is BARELY in….Penn State too.
But honestly look at what’s out there. There really are no strong midmajors that can make it, unless a team like Memphis, Creighton, etc doesn’t win their tourny (which will happen)

If Michigan loses at Minny tomorrow, they are out. If Wisky loses Sunday, I’d put them on the bubble.

if we lose at home to indiana sunday, we don’t belong in the tournament

It is amazing to see a program like Kentucky falling so hard. 10 years ago UK was the premier program in college ball and now they are about to be NIT bound. I would think Billy has one more year to get them back to prominance or he’ll be fired.

More proof that UK should have never fired Tubby. Not that I’m complaining.
