Happy Hour: Sparty 2.0 Update

By mikeychx

new-happy-hour-logo-copySo over the last couple of days, a few of you guys have seen spots on the site where there are some spots that said things like ” website no found”  or “google error. ” This is due to the fact that we are in the process of adding a few ads to the site to offset server fees, domain fees, design fees, etc. Thanks for bearing with us in the mean time.

A couple of cool new features here at Sparty and Friends include your ability to contact us in a simple form on the contact page. You can preview the contact page by clicking here. If you need to find it during regular business days when a post like this isn’ t available, you can find the link in the sidebar or at the top of the page above the headline. The reason we want to provide you this ability to contact us is four fold. You can tip us off about stories that are out there, you can complain about what we aren’t posting or about wrong information in posts, you can submit stories of your own for consideration, or you can simply forward us links from your blog or links that you find out there on the internet.

Additionally, we are working to improve commenting with a comment quicktags tool bar so you can easily post links etc in the comments. Hopefully this will be available in the next week or so.

We wanted to make you aware of the BallHype and YardBarker buttons at the end of each post. BallHype and YardBarker are sports blogsite “depositories” for all of the thousands of blog sites that are out there. We are currently the 60th ranked blog in the world at Ball Hype. I would love to tell you where we are at YardBarker but I have yet to figure it out 100%. Our rank is determined by a bunch of different factors, one of them being how much people like our stories.  I guess he long and short of it is…if you like our stories or posts we would encourage you to click on the “hype it up; and / or “bark it up” buttons. You will need to sign up for a free Ball Hype and/or YardBarker account to do so…Thanks in advance.

Just above the BallHype/YardBarker buttons is the “Share” button that enables you to Digg, FaceBook, MySpace, Twitter, BookMark, Reddit, etc the post as well. Additionally….RSS Feeds and RSS Comment Feeds are now up and available for mobile blogging and commenting if you would like as well. If you haven’t already, you can also join us on Facebook as we have a group page available as well.

Last but not least, we have an ESPN toolbar at the bottom of each post, just below the comment box. The bar is interactive…so if you want MLB scores, just click on the MLB tab. If a game interests you, click on the game in the widget and it will take you to the ESPN box score. The Bottom line shows you all of the days games in every sport, so you don’t have to wait until Happy Hour to find out who is playing…and you dont have to click somewhere else to check out scores while you are commenting.

Now that all that is outta the way…what did we actually write about here today at Sparty and Friends? Well it all started out stellar, link filled edition of The Morning After and then Trey updated the upcoming tournament selections for your reading pleasure. The Colorado Rockies were just in the World Series two years ago…now they get an early preview. Trey followed the Rockies with a thought provoking post on Sports Economics…Where have all of the fans gone?

So – Television wise tonight…you can check the ESPN bottom line bar for tonights action while you are commenting…isn’t that great? This isn’t the ned of the television updates here in Happy Hour…I’m just tired of typing.
