Sportsmanship Still Exisits

By sparty

johntell21609Remember when you were a kid and at the end of whatever game you played in, you lined up at midfield, home plate, mid-court to shake hands with the other team?  We were encouraged to be good sports, regardless of the outcome of the game.  In fact, if we got out of line within the game, our coaches would pull us to the sidelines and chew our ear out for not playing the right way.  That’s when true sportsmanship existed for all athletes.

The following story is something that is already a couple weeks old.  I missed it completely, even though it was linked in our daily links in TMA.  With the entire A-Rod and steroids mess that has been covered ad nauseum by the media and bloggers, like ourselves; it is nice to stop and give attention to the example of sportsmanship that took place in Wisconsin February 7th.  I am not going to retell the story, but please read the link and attempt to not be touched or get misty eyed by what took place following the death of a player’s mother.

Out of tragedy, sportsmanship has a shining moment (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel)
