Happy Hour: Shots on the House

By mikeychx

sparty-shot-copyPretty enjoyable week here for the most part. We would like to think we kept you mildly entertained with the few sports stories there were the past seven days. We know its been hard, so we thought we would all by you a shot. Just meet us at this bar in Miami…and we will hook you up. If you get there before us, just ask for the bartender…he goes by the name of Angel…if he’s not around just ask for Yuri….no not the Russian guy, the Dominican guy…you know A-Rods cousin. Anyways, if you need to see what he looks like, hes really famous…as in all over the web. He even got a nice write up over at Deadspin with his picture  and everything. You should definetly check it out. So, Ill see you in Miami, okay.

Speaking of this week, I guess we should talk about today. I was up early uploading some stuff when I was going through The Morning After. The lack of sports stories out there caused Sparty to really scramble for some material. It was a good read as usual until Sparty angered me by revealing our fantasy basketball and fantasy baseball trophies for the upcoming year. So, yeah…I ordered a dozen of these…one for each author, and four contest winners…the cats outta the bag. Suprise – OVER!

Trey took a break from defending those who cannot defend themselves to give us some indefensible NCAA tournament selection projections. Kidding, of course…I know nothing and don’t pay attention until the tournament starts – or unless SportsCenter is doing highlights.

In on an on going effort to make baseball appear faster, we continue to provide you with MLB 2009 Previews…no not the video game – the real game. Homer Oriole fan GITC gave us the inside look at the team du jour which was the Baltimore Oriloes.

Tiger is back…Mikey gave you a look at his probable schedule. You can pretty much bank on it too. Sorry for no Riviera news this week – It was all filler until Tiger got back anyways.

Wrestling has become the popular topic here at S&F…and Sparty continued to give us vintage clips and regaled the stars yesteryear and the moment they all became villians.

MoonDog asked me to tell you that the Scouting Combine which started Wednesday (really – did we cover this in a post?) is Jeter over-rated.

So that brings us to the weekend. NASCAR left Daytona and travelled all the way out here to California. Fontana is about 2 hours from me and about 45 minutes from commenter Fiesta Trio…I know some people who may go. That sums up this weeks NASCAR preview. We will take another stab at some live commenting, but Miz and Trey as well as other rednecks haven’t been too supportive of my efforts so far.

NBA has a full slate o’ games this weekend…25 to be exact. Many games on Sunday again finally. Highlight games include tonight DAL @ HOU and NO @ LAL, tomorrows NO @ UT, Sundays BOS @ PHO, MIA @ORL, and DET @ CLE.

NCAA sees all top 25 teams in action this weekend. A lot of good games…not very many great match ups….unless you count Wake @ Dook….Save the homer comments – If your team is ranked and playing an unranked – its just not that big of a deal.

College Comments tomorrow, NBA comments on Sunday, NASCAR comments Sunday night…as well as the TMAs both days. Check in often….
