The Morning After: February 8, 2009

By patphish

tma-weekendGood morning everyone. It’s Pro Bowl Sunday! No one cares. February is the no one cares month. Groundhog day? Stopped caring at age 9. Valentine’s day? Married…….so I don’t care. It’s snowing! What is pretty in December is a total pain in the butt by now. President’s day? It isn’t a paid holiday for most of us anymore. February NBA…..is almost as bad as November NBA. February basically just sucks. It is however getting late in the college basketball season, and the best 4 weekends of the year are just around the corner. This is especially true if you happen to root for one of the following 5 teams, one of which will be cutting down the nets in Detroit come the first Monday in April………………………………           Sparty had a big day, stomping on Indiana. This game got ugly at the end which was surprising considering Tom Izzo and Tom Crean are very close friends, and neither puts up with the crap seen Saturday. Expect Devan Dumas to be hating life today, as Crean makes him do wind sprints till he pukes. And whats up with Raymar Morgan? No one gets the “flu” for 3 weeks. And he sure looked healthy in his suit screaming and yelling in the 2nd half. Just sayin’.

The FNCUH struggled against a very game Michigan team. February out of conference games can be tricky that way. No excuses, the Huskies played lousy, but turned up the interior defense at the end to pull away. Hasheem Thabeet should be the #1 pick in June’s draft.

The only ACC team with a shot at the final 4 is playing very well right now. Expect them to win their fourth straight in Durham against Puke this Wednesday. And some say winning on the road in the ACC is next to impossible.

DePaul is almost as bad as Virginia, but Pitt is the second best team in the country right now. They play the FNCUH twice in the next month plus a possible third time in the Big East tournement. Good times, good times indeed.

The final team in the bunch has quietly won 14 games in a row. Is that possible? They reside in redneck central, but are not the redneck team. Ladies and gents, I give you the Memphis Tigers and their suffocating defense. Going west to Spokane in who cares month is not easy, but they sure made it look that way.

The details of a great Saturday in college hoops.

The best shortstop on the Yankees used to juice. I’m more interested on the rest of the names on the list. This is the meat of the story anyway.

300 left turns gets us a winner.

Larry Brown gets rid of the Stache cause he can’t play D. He’s get’s an equally bad defender in return. Makes sense.

Only because the boss makes me: Mavs win, Terry breaks hand, Pistons win in O.T. behind former UConn Husky and national champion Rip Hamilton’s 38, and the rest of another thrilling who cares night in the NBA.

Ummmmm…………..he “accepts” $15 mil?

Just because: Craigslist rules.

I call BS on everything I wrote today, thus saving GITC from having to waste his time doing so.

Now get to work on the house to do list. March is coming fast, (February is really short or something), and you are going to need your weekends empty then to watch the Madness.
